Sebastien Bourdais continued his unbeaten start to the 2006 season with a come from behind victory at Milwaukee on Sunday.
With many of his closest rivals shooting themselves in the collective foot just minutes after the green flag fell Bourdais seemed to have an easy path to victory on the flat one-mile oval in Wisconsin.
However after making an early pitstop for fuel the Frenchman found himself a lap down to the leaders when the caution flag waved.
That would prove to be the start of a fabulous comeback drive that resulted in him eventually putting the rest of the field a lap down before a late caution allowed a handful of drivers to get back on the lead lap.
The Newman-Haas driver would eventually go on to record a three second win over Briton Justin Wilson, the only other driver in the same league as the double defending series champion.
Nelson Philippe scored his best Champ Car result to date with a third place finish while AJ Allmendinger crossed the line fourth as the only other driver on the same lap as Bourdais.
Katherine Legge made history by not only leading several laps but also by finishing as top rookie in sixth place, the best ever for a female driver in Champ Car.
Defending Milwaukee winner Paul Tracy, Bourdais' teammate Bruno Junqueira and Tracy's teammate Mario Dominguez all retired in a second lap crash.
