PKV Racing enjoyed a productive test session at Sebring after Oriol Servia and Alex Tagliani both ended the two and a half day session towards the top of the time sheets.
Servia, who will drive for the team during the upcoming Champ Car World Series season, ended the session with the fourth quickest time while Tagliani ended up one place higher on his first outing for the team.
Tagliani ran a total of 281 laps, the second highest of the 14 drivers present, and posted a quickest time of 50.173secs during the five sessions of on-track action
The 35-year-old veteran admitted that he was thrilled with how the test had gone as he looks to try and secure a race seat for the year ahead.
I am very happy with the way the test went, he said. I very much appreciate and want to thank Kevin Kalkhoven, Jimmy Vasser and Mark Johnson for this opportunity. This is a dream situation for me. I just hope everything works out and I can be a part of this team in 2008 because I know they will contend for the championship.
The whole team did a great job at the test and we got a lot done. This is an outstanding team with a great programme and the right attitude. They were very prepared and everybody worked hard. I think Oriol and I worked well together. It was almost like we had been on the same team for five years.
Servia was the busiest man on track with 288 laps under his belt and the Spaniard set a best time just 0.005secs behind Tagliani. Like the Canadian racer, Servia was happy with the way things had progressed and said it wasn't just the pace displayed that gave the team reason to be pleased.
I am very happy and pleased with the results of the test, he said. Not just because of where we ended up on the speed charts, but also because of all the work we got done. We came here not so concerned about lap times, but to work on some of the projects the engineers have developed since the end of the season. But, we were still fast.
