As far as teams making the commitment to switch codes, Indycar president of competition Brian Barnhart was delighted to report that Monday's orientation day had seen '100 per cent attendance' from Champ Car teams, a promising point underlined by the presence of Dale Coyne, Paul Stoddart and Keith Wiggins - all yet to confirm an interest in the unified series - at the press call. Drivers Robert Doornbos and Bruno Junqueira - who drove for Minardi Team USA and Dale Coyne Racing respectively last season - were also among the audience.

George pointed out that every Indycar operation had expressed excitement at the thought of a unified competition - contrary to some rumours doing the rounds - and that every help was being extended from team to team across the divide to facilitate Champ Car operations' entry to their new world - to the point where some teams have reportedly formed technical relationships, with George naming tie-ups between Rahal Letterman and Newman/Haas/Lanigan and Chip Ganassi Racing and the renamed KV Racing.

Although exact figures concerning the number of chassis and engines available for distribution among the converts remain unclear, Barnhart said that he hoped it would be possible that each 'new' team would receive a minimum of one new and one used Dallara from the pool being assembled, although it may not be possible to furnish each team with two cars prior to the season-opener at Homestead late next month. Barnhart also revealed that Dallara, despite only being alerted to the possibility of a unified series at the end of January and despite already having four other major projects on the stocks, had immediately started a run of new cars with which to increase the pool of available machinery.
