"It's great to get back in the car, obviously, and everybody in the race shop at Target Chip Ganassi has been working hard to make sure we can improve on last season," he said, reflecting on a disappointing campaign, "Judging by the test, it's gone very well. There's some room for improvement but, for our test, back into the swing of things, and to be back at Homestead, I think we're in pretty good shape."
Overall, drivers completed 3463 laps through the course of two evenings under the lights, with AJ Foyt celebrating his return to Vision Racing with fourth fastest time on day two. The American was sandwiched between the two Ganassi cars, with 2007 runner-up Scott Dixon rounding out the top five, ahead of rookie Hideki Mutoh, Briscoe's Penske team-mate Helio Castroneves, Tony Kanaan, Ed Carpenter and Marco Andretti.
Milka Duno took 14th spot as her first outing with Dreyer & Reinbold Racing came to a close, putting herself ahead of both Darren Manning and Marty Roth. The Canadian's new team-mate, Jay Howard, again missed the session.
