In IndyCar, Wilson is driving a hand-me-down car from Vision Racing, while Newman/Haas/Lanigan team-mate Graham Rahal has a new car. The team's third car - previously driven by Jon Herb - arrived at the NHLR shop on Tuesday, and the team is awaiting delivery on another new car for Wilson. The team received some set-up information from Vision Racing, but not much, although an NHLR team spokesperson said that, to a certain extent, this was understandable because such information is proprietary. NHLR didn't know how much they'd provide to another team if the positions were reversed.
Comparing and contrasting the two series, Wilson revealed that the IRL and Champ Car World Series did things differently. The IRL is very strong in the public relations department, while the CCWS had a very good technical edge.
Friday evening - No 2009 race - yet
Jim Michaelian, president of the Grand Prix Association of Long Beach, has said that he has no announcements to make at this time regarding the status of an Indy Racing League race at the 2009 Grand Prix of Long Beach.
Although IRL president and CEO Tony George is flying in from Japan to Long Beach after the Saturday Motegi IndyCar race, Michaelian said he would only be in Long Beach for several hours and this wasn't the time to have such discussions.
Michaelian did reveal, however, that he would be going to Indianapolis in a couple of weeks to discuss the future of IRL in Long Beach.
