Justin Wilson was left frustrated and disappointed by two incidents which ruined his chances of success on IndyCar's Honda Indy 200 at Mid-Ohio.

After pitting under the yellow, Wilson again emerged in 16th position, but further misfortune struck at the restart when he was tapped into a spin while going around the outside the lapped Mario Dominguez. In the ensuing chaos, Marco Andretti got underneath the back of the #02, lifting its rear end into the air and stalling it on impact. Dan Wheldon and AJ Foyt IV were also caught up in the melee, although only Andretti retired as a result.

“One of the backmarkers said he was going to let me by on the restart so, when it went green, I thought he was going to let me by at the last corner, but he just punted me around," Wilson revealed, "That lost us a lap and bent the car, so it was a hard battle from then on to get back on the lead lap.”

The Briton spent the last 40 laps of the race working his way back through the field, unlapping himself during another full course caution on lap 62 and, after a 13-lap battle, finally getting past Danica Patrick for eleventh on lap 83 of 85.

“It's really frustrating,” he reflected, “The McDonald's car was quick from the start, and I felt that we were doing a great job. We should have been up there in the top four or five.”

Andretti and Wheldon, meanwhile, also had their tales of woe from the coming-together, which prolonged the American's up-and-down start to the year and ended Wheldon's hopes of victory.

"There was just a lot of smoke in front of me and I knew someone was spinning - but I had no idea which direction they were going and, unfortunately, we got caught up in it," the Andretti Green driver said, "Obviously, I'm the one who put myself in that position to begin with because of my mistake earlier in the race, but the track went loose and kept picking up front grip so, no matter how many turns of front wing we took out, we were still loose."
