The one-off crash helmet design worn by Newman/Haas/Lanigan Racing driver Graham Rahal at the Mid-Ohio IndyCar round earlier this year will be auctioned this week in aid of Paul Newman's Hole in the Wall Camps.

The special helmet, created by renowned graphic artist Troy Lee, featured many of the promotional posters for movies that team co-owner Newman starred in, and was autographed by both the driver and Oscar-winning actor after the event. Among the movies depicted are the motorsport-themed Winning, Cool Hand Luke, Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid, Cat on a Hot Tin Roof, The Sting, The Hustler, The Long Hot Summer, and Rahal's personal favourite, Slap Shot.

It is now being auctioned online via eBay, with bidding open until next Monday [13 October], and all proceeds from its sale will be given to Flying Horse Farms, a provisional member of The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps located 30 minutes from the Mid-Ohio Sports Car Course, where Rahal paraded the design in the Honda Indy 200 in July.

The Association of Hole in the Wall Camps was founded by Newman to provide for seriously ill children, and Debi Rahal has been an active fund-raiser for the Flying Horse Farm operation.
