IndyCar » Panther, Patrick, Gordon file Indy entries.

Tuesday, 30th March 2004

Two teams with winning pedigrees in open-wheel racing, Panther Racing and Patrick Racing, were among those to file entries for the 88th Indianapolis 500 yesterday [29 March], and were joined by another outfit hoping to emulate their success, Team Gordon.

Team Gordon also entered two cars for owner-driver Robby Gordon who, like Scheckter, Taylor and Unser, will wheel a Dallara-Chevrolet combination. The #70 car will feature Bharat Naran as the chief mechanic and Thomas Knapp as team manager.

Gordon will attempt to make his tenth Indianapolis 500 start, and is looking for better luck than in his recent visits. His best finish of fourth in 1999 came only after he ran out of fuel while leading with less than two laps to go. Gordon will also attempt the 'double' of driving the Indianapolis 500 and the NASCAR Nextel Cup Series' Coca-Cola 600 at Charlotte on the same day.

The various entries arrived two days before the deadline for submissions on 31 March.
