Neil Cunningham: Turning the corner?

Friday, 29th June 2007

In his latest Crash.net column, Embassy Racing’s Neil Cunningham looks ahead to the third round of the Le Mans Series at the Nurburgring.

This past weekend I had the chance to drive the Radical up the hill at Goodwood, which was great. It was the first time I’d been to Goodwood and it was an honour for the team to be asked to go along – and I also enjoyed the chance to see a lot of the old cars, although I don’t think they go back as far as when I was young! To get invited to Goodwood on our first year in international motorsport is a great opportunity.

On the back of the Rockingham test I’m looking forward to this weekend and racing at the Nurburgring. It’s a circuit I drove on many years ago and it’s a circuit I enjoy driving on – it’s just a shame that we don’t race on the full Nordschleife! I think the Embassy team will run strongly in Germany and it we don’t have any silly problems then I think we could be on for a podium finish. We have a clear run into the race as we didn’t do Le Mans and therefore don’t have any post Le Mans problems to sort out – unlike most of our rivals. That is part of the reason why we didn’t do that race so we can focus on the Nurburgring and on getting to grips with this kind of racing.

Until next time,
