Darren Turner has set his sights on helping Team Modena to their first Le Mans Series GT1 win of the season at his and the team's home round of
Silverstone.
GT1 Le Mans 24 Hours winner Turner will help complete a three-driver Modena team, the British Touring Car driver joining Antonio Garcia and Christian Fittipaldi in the Aston Martin DBR9 for the fourth round of the championship at the British circuit.
Looking to take the fight to the dominant Oreca Saleen S7R, Turner is pleased to have secured a seat for his home round, even if he is slightly disappointed that he is not driving the factory-run DBR9s that have been a major attraction in recent years.
"It is a shame we haven't been running with the works cars this year, but I have a good relationship with Team Modena. I've driven for them a few times and have actually won a race in that car as well," Turner said.
"I'm really looking forward to getting back out in that car. I have driven a GT2 car recently in America and also doing the full programme in the British Touring Car Championship with SEAT so I am in different cars all the time.
"At least when I get back in the Aston Martin, it feels like home. I am really looking forward to teaming up with Antonio Garcia again. We drove together at Sebring earlier this year and I know he has a huge amount of pace.”
