Neil Cunningham has declared himself pleased with a pre-Silverstone test session for the Embassy Racing Radical after setting the quickest lap seen by an LMP2 car at
Snetterton.
Ahead of the latest round of the Le Mans Series next weekend, the New Zealander made his return to the Radical SR9 having missed the last round of the season at Spa due to the impending arrival of his daughter.
However, he was quickly into the groove behind the wheel of the car he will share with Warren Hughes and Darren Manning, setting lap times under the minute mark as preperations continue for the team's maiden LMS outing on home soil.
“We set the fastest LMP2 lap around Snetterton during the test, which was basically a shakedown and preparation for the Le Mans Series race at Silverstone next weekend,” he told
Crash.net. “The time was easy to achieve and we were consistently able to run quick laps with the car. That is credit to the team for the work they have done on the car, to Judd for the work they have put in with the engine, and to Dunlop on the tyres. They have worked together to get the car in great shape and all I had to do was climb in and hit the throttle!
“It allowed me to get back in the groove again after a bit of time out of the car and I was soon back in the comfort zone. Hopefully we can have another good race at Silverstone, maybe like a few years ago in the British GT Championship when we chased down the Scuderia Ecosse
Ferrari to win on the last lap with the Porsche! Me, Warren and Darren have all gone well at the circuit in the past and hopefully we will be a strong line-up for the race.”
