Embassy Racing has confirmed the signing of Mario Haberfeld for the 2008 Le Mans Series season.
The Brazilian former Champ Car World Series racer joined the team for the final round of the 2007 season at Interlagos where he helped the team to second place in the LMP2 class alongside Warren Hughes and Darren Manning in the team's Radical.
The team had hoped to run Manning again during the coming year in its all new WF01 but with the Yorkshireman having already committed to running in the IndyCar Series, negotiations were quickly concluded to add Haberfeld to the Embassy line-up for the 2008 campaign, where he will join Hughes, Joey Foster and Jonny Kane.
"Mario is a wonderful driving talent and his skills will compliment the rest of the line up perfectly," team owner Jonathan France said. "He is a committed, experienced and professional individual and his will to win is very much in evidence through his determination, hard work and concentration both on and off the race track.
"As soon as it was clear that Darren could not make the full calendar, I had no hesitation in asking Mario to join the team on a more permanent basis. I am very pleased that we have managed to put a deal together and I think that no matter how we pair the drivers we will have two formidable driver combinations in the new WF01s."
