The full season entry list for the 2008 Le Mans Series has been revealed, with 50 cars set to take part in the five-event calendar during the season ahead.
Some 16 LMP1 cars are named on the entry list, with 15 in LMP2, 14 in GT2 but only 5 in GT1 for the 2008 campaign, which will feature 1000km races at Catalunya, Monza, Spa, Nurburgring and
Silverstone.
The headline news had already been revealed as far as the entry list is concerned, with Audi electing to bring its Le Mans winner R10 TDi to race in the LMS for the first time. ALMS champions Allan McNish and 'Dindo' Capello will share one car, with the sister machine driven by Mike Rockenfeller and Alex Premat. Main rival Peugeot has yet to officially announce its programme for the season ahead, but two 908 HDis feature on the entry list, albeit both with driver line-ups still to be announced.
Amongst the privateer LMP1 teams, Pescarolo Sport retains it 2007 driver line-up for a two-car entry once again, while former
F1 racer Olivier Panis will form part of the line-up for Team ORECA as it graduates to LMP1 following its tie-up with Courage Racing over the winter. Epsilon Euskadi are another team moving up to LMP1, although with no drivers yet named, while British outfit Creation Autosportif will also run two cars – one of which has an all-new line-up in the shape of former Rollcentre Racing driver Stuart Hall and Champ Car World Series star Simon Pagenaud. Single car entries from Saulnier Racing, Rollcentre Racing, Chamberlain Synergy and Charouz Racing System – the latter with the new Lola LMP1 Coupe – complete the class entry.
