WF01 hits the track at Snetterton.

Having been forced to delay the first run of its all-new WF01 due to supplier issues, Embassy Racing hit the track for the first time this week for a day of running at Snetterton.

Unfortunately, the French sunshine the team had hoped to take advantage of during the Le Mans Series test at Paul Ricard was replaced by rain and strong winds for the day long-test at the Norfolk venue, with Warren Hughes, Joey Foster and Jonny Kane all having a run out in the #46 LMP2 machine.

Hughes had started the day in #45, although a slight gear change problem forced the car back into the garage.

However both cars were then out on track together for the afternoon, although stormy weather would play havoc with the teams plan for the day.

“Today was all about getting a feel for the car and unfortunately that is all the weather would allow us to do,” Hughes said. “It's was a good thing in a way because we weren't pushing the cars too early which allows us to see the niggles that need sorting. I felt very comfortable in the car but performance wise it was hard to tell too much at this stage. With the weather, we have had to be cautious but I think we will learn a lot more at the Nurburgring next week.”

Foster was having his first outing in an LMP2 machine, declaring himself confident in the car despite the conditions, while Kane was lucky enough to get the best of the on-track conditions as the team tried to solve some initial teething issues with the car.

“I was fortunate to get the best of the weather whilst out on the track and I can see there is the makings of a really good car there,” he said. “There was a slight problem with the brakes in that they weren't hot enough and not responding as quickly as we would like but that is what today was all about, finding out the little glitches like that and getting the car perfect for the start of the season. Seeing the car completed and out on the track I have a very positive feeling about the season.”
