Fresh from a first win of the season at Monza, Team Modena has announced its driver line-up for the 2008 running of the Le Mans 24 Hours.
With regular driver Antonio Garcia having been called up by the factory Aston Martin Racing team for the event and Tomas Enge set to race the new LMP1 Lola-Aston Martin of the Charouz Racing Systems team, Team Modena will bring in three drivers for the Le Mans 24 Hours – although two of those have past experience with the team at La Sarthe.
Jos Menten and Christian Fittipaldi will both return having taken part in the race at the wheel of the Modena Aston Martin DBR9 last year, while the driver line-up will be completed by the experienced figure of Terry Borcheller, who is racing the Bell Motorsports Aston in the ALMS this season and has raced at Le Mans four times in the past.
"I think we have a fantastic driver line up for Le Mans," team principal Graham Schultz said. "We are excited to have Terry Borcheller join us for the race and know him from our links with the Bell Motorsport Aston Martin in the US. He knows Christian and they will work well together, and Jos simply slotted in with us last year and did a great job. We have a good squad and are confident about our chances."
Sporting director Rik Bryan was equally pleased with the line-up assembled.
"I think that we have put together a very strong driver line-up for this year, and for the first time at Le Mans we are taking three drivers who all have previous Le Mans experience - the event deserves that respect!" he said. "It's great to re-unite Christian and Jos who did such a fantastic job for us last year, despite luck not being on our side! And we are very grateful to Acura and Andretti-Green Racing for letting us 'borrow' Christian!
