Le Mans winner joins LMP2 squad for Spa.

Embassy Racing has announced that Tom Kimber-Smith will form part of its driver line-up for the third round of the Le Mans Series at Spa.

The 23-year-old Briton will take the place of Mario Haberfeld in the team's line-up for the weekend with the Brazilian unable to take part in the event and will join Joey Foster in the #46 WF01. Jonny Kane will move over to partner Warren Hughes in the #45 car as a result.

The race will mark the second appearance in LMP2 machinery for Kimber-Smith, who secured GT2 honours at Le Mans with Team LNT in 2006, and team boss Jonathan France said he was looking forward to welcoming the former single-seater racer into the team.

“I have been an admirer of Tom's driving ability for some time,” he said. “Certainly his performance in the Zytek car at last year's Silverstone round stood out and his win at Le Mans in the Panoz in 2006 confirmed my thoughts that he has what it takes to be a world class endurance racer.

“I am delighted that he is joining us at Spa and I think he and Joey will make a formidable pairing.”
