Team Modena pairing Tomas Enge and Antonio Garcia secured victory in the final round of the Le Mans Series at Silverstone, although it wasn't enough to secure the GT1 class title for the Aston Martin team.

Fresh from a dominant win at the Nurburgring, the pair went into the season finale aware that they had to win to stand any chance of lifting the class crown, with the Luc Alphand Aventures Corvette of Guillaume Moreau and Patrice Gouesland holding a ten point lead going into the race.

Enge qualified second in class behind the IPB Spartak Lamborghini and moved into the GT1 lead by the seventh lap of the race, pulling well clear of his rivals before pitting to hand the car over to Garcia.

From that point onwards, the car ran without problems for a third win of the campaign, although third for the Corvette was enough to give the French team the title.

"Everything went perfectly in the race," Garcia reflected. "My first stint was my first run in dry conditions, but the car was quick and went well, the traffic was the most difficult thing. We won the race but were not really expecting to win the championship, and we have been on the top of the podium three times this year. I am very happy for the team - and happy to have partnered Tomas this season."

Sporting director Rik Bryan was left delighted with a win on home soil to cap a fine season for the team, with a heated battle having raged in GT1 throughout the year despite a lack of numbers.

"It has been another great weekend of the team," he said. "The best weather was in the race so we had to make some set-up changes, but ten we had a good race. We got past the Lamborghini in the first stint, and from then on had the right strategy and we pulled away to win in the end by a one lap margin and finished second in the championship. A great result to finish a good year for us."
