Preview – Grand Prix of Portugal.

Friday, 25th April 2008

After last weekend's Bellpuig mud bath, the 2008 MX1 and MX2 Motocross World Championship stars will be hoping for much better weather at Agueda in Portugal on Sunday.

Davide Guarneri secured overall victory with 2-1 raced finishes, but KTM's Tyla Rattray remains in control of the world championship, despite finishing just 17th in the second moto.

'Styla' had taken a perfect three moto wins prior to that misfortune and holds a slim three point lead over Yamaha's reigning double champion Antonio Cairoli.

Guarneri's muddy heroics have lifted him to third position, with Rattray's team-mate Tommy Searle fourth in the standings but expected to shine on the hard-packed circuit.

The Agueda circuit is situated 250 kilometres north east of the country's capital of Lisbon and is well known for its unique red coloured dirt. The weather forecast for this weekend's race is for strong sunshine.
