Promoter of Hawkstone Park Gary Ford is well on his way to establishing the British venue as a major fixture on the international pre-season calendar.

Here he talks about that event; the amount of spectators needed to break even and a lot more:

Q:
How does your club rate the event compared to the British Championship round later that year?

Gary Ford:
Well, we have now established this meeting on the International Calendar and it is equally as important to our club as running the British Championship.

Q:
It must take a lot of work and pounds to get all these top names to come. Is huge start money involved or are the top riders simply too keen to go racing in February?

GF: The riders now seem to want to come and race at our event for some good pre-season racing. They have not demanded huge amounts of start money and that is the reason we have managed to get such a good entry.

Q:
Has the weather been kind to you and the track lately?

GF:
The track is in good condition and the forecast is for sunny weather this weekend.

Q:
How many spectators do you need to break even?

GF:
We are hoping for a crowd in excess of 3,000 and would be disappointed if we did not get this.

Q:
Will we ever see a Grand Prix again at your facility?
