Q&A: Paul Lindsey – Motoworld Racing.

Saturday, 16th November 2002

As his career as a rider was slowing down, long time pro racer Paul Lindsey took the next step and accepted an offer to manage the Tecate/Kawasaki De Mexico Motocross team in 1998 - he now runs the unofficial factory Suzuki team in AMA action...

A couple of our guys are guys that people have heard of and a couple of them are guys that people might not have heard of - but I think all four are very solid and we're going to surprise a lot of people.

We have Andrew Short returning and he will be with us for 2003 and 2004. He's a close personal friend of mine - and an exciting rider to work with! He'll ride 125 west, 250s on the east, and then a 125 outdoors. He is a great 250 rider, and really hauls the mail on the bigger bikes. Actually, he has always been a better 250 rider so he's just biding his time in the 125's. It will be interesting and Suzuki fully supported our decision to have him ride a 250 on the East Coast.

Then we have David Pingree who I'm pumped about. He's excited to be back on Suzukis and feels he can win some races. He's obviously still fast; he won Anaheim 3 this year and was in title contention until he had some problems midway through the series A lot of people ask me if he is riding outdoors and the answer is yes!

We've got Ryan Morais who you might remember rode for McGraths team until he got hurt, breaking his wrist at the first Anaheim. But he is a very, very impressive young up and coming Supercross rider that a lot of teams had their eyes on and we were fortunate enough to get him. I'm really excited about his chances in 125 west as well as the 125 outdoors. He arguably has the best speed of the three West Coast guys, but he is a rookie and it will still be a learning year for him. I think all three of our West Coast guys can get podiums and I'd like to see them all make top five in the points.

Last but not least we have Darryl Hurley from New Zealand who rode some 250 nationals for Roger DeCoster this year (at Hangtown and Mt. Morris). He's a bit of an X factor, and we don't know for sure where he will stack up, but he is a very solid 125 rider and also very good at Supercross. We're going to put him on a 250 to start out on the west and then we'll drop him down to 125 east and then he'll ride 125 outdoors.
