Stefan Everts' beleaguered MX1 rivals will be hoping that the long trip to South Africa, for round ten of the 2006 world championship, will help them finally break the Belgian's perfect run.
Everts, racing in his last season before retirement, now looks almost certain to end his dazzling career with a tenth world title - and potentially over 100 GP wins - after taking overall victory in the first nine rounds of the season to stand a massive 114 points clear of nearest rival Kevin Strijbos.
Indeed, thoughts are already starting to turn to the post-Everts era with current KTM MX2 rider Marc de Reuver and CAS Honda's Josh Coppins having recently signed to replace Everts at Yamaha in 2007, while Tanel Leok has re-signed for Kawasaki and Strijbos Suzuki.
But before then the goal is simply to become the rider that ends Everts' unbeaten streak, with Strijbos, his Suzuki team-mate Steve Ramon, Leok and CAS Honda's Josh Coppins leading the charge.
Coppins beat Everts at Sun City last season, but the 2006 event will mark only his third grand prix of the season after a shoulder injury ended his title hopes and the New Zealander is yet to reach full fitness.
In the MX2 standings, Kawasaki's Christophe Pourcel takes a 46 point advantage to South Africa, but is starting to face increasing pressure from KTM's David Philippaerts - winner of the last three GPs.
Although yet to take an overall victory this year, reigning world champion Antonio Cairoli is only two points behind Philippaerts, with de Reuver fourth and KTM team-mate Tyla Rattray fifth.
Rattray led the early championship standings after a strong start to the season, but has struggled with injury and technical problems in recent events and will hope that his home grand prix can mark a much needed revival.
Another home rider out to impress will be Molson Kawasaki's Gareth Swanepoel, who will be looking to match the recent podium form of young British team-mate Tommy Searle.
