Sun City previously hosted the South African GP, but the 2007 event was cancelled and replaced by a second Italian round. The new venue of Nelspruit is 30 kilometres away from an International Airport, at Kruger Park, where many hotels are also located.

Said Youthstream president, Giuseppe Luongo. "This is the safest solution: by having the contract made directly between Youthstream and the National Federation, we are able to guarantee everyone a high level of organisation and secure the future of Motocross in South Africa."
