Moto-X » Strijbos wins season finale, Ramon crowned.

With long time MX1 leader Josh Coppins forced to concede defeat before the event even began, due to a shoulder injury, Ramon faced a simple task - and took the title with second place behind Strijbos in moto one, while Marc de Reuver made a much needed comeback with third.

And the Dutchman - whose factory Yamaha future is in doubt - was the undisputed star of race two. After fending off a determined challenge from Ramon - seeking to justify his title with at least one grand prix win - Strijbos found himself being hunted down by a flying de Reuver in the closing stages.

Kevin, who moved ahead of Coppins for second in the championship, looked to have mounted a successful defence as he began the last lap two seconds in front - but de Reuver mounted one final charge and snatched a debut moto victory! de Reuver's dream ride also placed him second overall in the GP, as Ramon completed the podium.

"I knew a little bit what to expect after the first world title but it is a great feeling; that moment when it hits you 'I'm world champion'!" said Ramon, whose consistency handed him the crown. "I'm really happy with my second title [after the 2003 125cc crown] and I have been working hard for this.

"I had bad luck at the start of the season with some poor starts, a few crashes and then always having to come back through the pack. Around the middle of the year it started to get better and I took some wins and also some podiums but I had another setback with the crash at Loket and from that point until this race it was difficult to race with my wrist.

"It has been a strange season: I have had some bad results but I also know that it is important to fight for every point. It has not been my best year but I'm still the champion. We are now going to party tonight and also tomorrow!" he concluded.
