Entering the eleventh round of the 2008 Monster Energy AMA Supercross series, an FIM World Championship, the Aussie has led an incredible 104 laps, over four times more than closest championship rival Kevin Windham.
But Reed's points tally should show a greater margin over second place after he dominated proceedings in
Daytona, before his bike succumbed to some of the worst track conditions ever seen in an AMA Supercross race - with just four corners to go!
Reed had built and maintained a lead of over one minute to that point, and he wants to bounce back with similar pace at the Metrodome.
"I have been focusing all my attention on preparing for this weekend, there's no use dwelling on last round as I am satisfied that I rode the best race I could," said Reed.
"There's no room for conservative riding as there's just too many guys out there capable of catching you off guard."
"This is another event that hasn't been on the calendar for a number of years, I haven't had a win here so converting my form to maximum points is the goal this weekend."
Reed will make his 91st AMA Supercross start this weekend. Just five regular rounds in five consecutive weeks remain following the Minneapolis event.
Yamaha rider Reed holds a 23-point advantage over Honda-backed Windham.
