Chaz checks in - Pt.1: AMA ups and downs.

"'Sup Y’all?! As they say from these parts of the world..."

PJ is the vainest kid I’ve ever met when it comes to his hair so I thought that the best forfeit would be that he shaves his head! After a lot of chasing, we finally caught PJ and he was then subject to Hattie’s mad hair trimming skills with a set of clippers that I purchased especially for the occasion the day before! It was hilarious and he hated every minute of it. You may as well have chopped his arm off - it was that much of a disaster!

Supersport qualifying was a strange session. In FX qualifying on the SS bike I got down to a 1min 27.1secs, which was about 1.3 seconds under the Supersport lap record. For some reason, maybe the rain that came in overnight, I didn’t seem to be able to get down to the same times that I had done the day before. From the beginning of the session I was at the top of the sheets, then about midway through I was pushed back to third. With about 20 minutes remaining I had a new rear tyre on which I did a 1min 27.6secs, which again put back into pole.

From then on I did a few laps which were there or thereabouts that time but couldn’t seem to find the pace that I had from the FX qualifying. I expected to see myself get bumped down the order as it got into the last 10 minutes but it didn’t seem like anybody had an answer. I put in another new rear tyre for a last few minute blast where I bettered my lap by only half a tenth. I was sure that this wouldn’t be enough for pole. When I came back to the pits it seemed like everybody else had the same feeling as me as I managed to hold onto pole. The team were over the moon and the good thing was that our pace was consistently the quickest by a good margin. To put it in short, I didn’t think that anybody would be able to keep up come Sunday.

As it had done for the previous two nights, the rain came in late evening on Saturday and really bucketed it down. Although for the last two days by the time we woke up the rain had ceased and the track was well on way to being dry. Unfortunately this wasn’t the case for Sunday. The rain continued heavily through the morning and it looked very unlikely that we were going to get anything done.
