Supersport was also first race. Keeping true to pretty much every other Supersport race this year - I got a crap start losing a place or two off the line. I had to make whatever moves I made stick because if I didn’t then the lead group would definitely be too far out of reach. I knew I had the pace from the morning it was just whether I could get to the front quick enough.
At the end of lap one I went to out brake two people into turn one but I messed up. I ended up tagging the first guy which then stood me up and sent me into the second guy, taking us both out of the race. I held my hands up as it was 100% my fault. I was doing what I had to do to try and get up the front but came unstuck. Again I landed on my right-hand side, saving any knocks to the elbow.
There was then a long few hours wait until our final race of the season, the FX race. Between the two races I started to not feel myself again and was becoming tired and just a bit dozy. Everything was again starting to catch up with me.
I got an average start, like I have done in most FX races this year. At the end of lap 1 I had lost a place putting me down to eighth. By lap 4 I was up to seventh but just wasn’t feeling myself.
It was a dull race. I was with a guy called Chris Peris who was holding me up yet for some reason I didn’t have the focus to pass him and run the pace I should have been able to do. I put it down to a combination of a lack of sleep, painkillers and a stressfully busy last five days.
It was all a bit gutting really, for the team and myself. I was looking forward to Laguna and hoping to finish the season on a high. I really enjoy the track and had been there for the GP two months previously so I thought it could have been the weekend where we get the elusive win, but I suppose that’s the way the cookie crumbles sometimes!
