There will be extra practice sessions on Thursday morning for riders to adjust to the new part of the circuit while the three World Championship races will by tradition be held on Saturday.
In the 250cc class, 27-year-old Argentinean Sebastian Porto has won the last two 250cc races in Assen but announced his retirement from racing before the Barcelona event. The race was won by Italian Andre Dovizioso who not only extended his lead in the Championship but also secured his first ever 250cc grand prix victory.
The Humangest Racing Team Honda rider leads Spaniard
Jorge Lorenzo by 25 points. Lorenzo's team-mate Hector Barbara is still out of action with a broken arm and once again will be replaced by the very impressive Alex Debon who finished fifth in Barcelona.
Nineteen-year-old Spaniard Alvaro Bautista is running away with the 125cc title despite some incredibly close races. He opened up a 56 point lead in the championship over the Finn Mika Kallio after his third win of the season in Barcelona in a race totally dominated by his Master - MVA Aspar Aprilia team.
They filled the first four places and his team-mates Mattia Pasini and Hector Faubel share third place in the Championship just one point behind the KTM of Kallio.
