Hello everybody… again!

Since my last update only a couple of days ago we’ve had a bit of news, as you’ve probably already read on Crash.net.

I didn’t know this but apparently Arnaud Vincent broke some ribs at the Italian GP and has been battling through the pain since. On Wednesday we got a phone call from Lucio Cecchinello who has been very helpful and has been keeping us informed if there are any rides going in the MotoGP paddock. He told us about Arnaud after he called it a day this weekend at Assen and told us we should get in touch with the owner of the Molenaar team, Arie Molenaar. We contacted Arie Thursday afternoon and he already seemed to know that I was in the frame for riding Arnaud bike for Donington.

At first I wasn’t totally convinced about riding the Honda because of the same old problem and complaints about not being able to fit the bike. The Honda is generally a smaller bike than the Aprilia but the advantage of the Molenaar team is that they ran Smrz last year, who is reasonably tall and they have extended parts for the bike that should help me. I agreed to ride the bike based on the condition that it fits me pretty good and I can get comfortable on it otherwise it would be a waste of my time and theirs.

So, I’ve got to say I’m a bit surprised that I will be racing at Donington and thank you to Team Molenaar for the chance. I don’t expect any miracles by any means because it’s going to be a complete learning weekend after being with the 250cc Aprilia for so many years. The way I look at it is that I’ve got nothing to lose and it will be interesting to be able to compare the Honda.
