The test marks Valentino Rossi's debut on Bridgestone tyres and the first public appearance for the new Ducati Desmosedici GP8, which MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner took to the top of the timesheets despite a fast afternoon fall.
LOL...Casey wanted to prove so bad that he is fastest, he wiped out his 2008 bike Just like the greatest crasher he is. Meanwhile, Rossi was right on his tail with the Bridgestone Tyres. Guess he knew what he was talking about afterall. The man is a genius.

Just wait until Rossi gets those B'stones dialled into his 2008 M1 and hopefully that will level Stoner's playing field. I'll watch the remainder of this current Jerez test with anticipation until then!

Nice one JT, less than a second off your team mate and taking scalps like Melandri/Dovi(Easy to ride) and westy!!
Way to go!!

Agreed, great to see JT in the thick of things and improving. Very interesting that Vale is instantly quick on the Bridgestones and not too far in front of Colin. I don't much like the bloke but I'm glad to see Lorenzo up there and looking determined, by both number of laps and lap times, to mix things up.
Let's see what ridiculous statements of 'fact' follow in other peoples comments...
Nice one James - I don't think he's raced at Jerez before! What's the point of having tyre testers so far off the pace - how do they know what the tyres are going to do at the speed that the top riders are doing????!

As the name says, its testing, there are any number of things the teams could be trying which may or may not make it to next season's bike. Making any judgments based on the results of testing (especially in the early offseason) is ridiculous.
Ok, It's early days but what have we got. Stoner out in front. No change there. Dani is closing the gap (2007 or 2008 bike anyone?) and Rossi is already fast on a brand new tyre manufacturer with no data (and still fastest Yamaha and 2007 bike I believe). All these three missed the last test and are still the fastest.
Of the rest, Edwards is fast, Lorenzo also, Hopkins dissapointing and West more so. JT impressive, Melandri not. That Ducati does indeed look tricky to get the best out of.
All this is probably irrelevant as the guys are just warming up. Can't wait until tomorrow!

Good to see Rossi on the pace... As for JT... good on you mate, getting faster every time. Most surprising thing in these tests so far for me... surprised it's taking Melandri so long to adapt to the Ducati. I didn't think he'd match Stoner right away but am surprised he's been so far off the pace. JT is on an inferior bike and never ridden these tracks and already he's faster...
I hope Marco get's up to speed as he's far more likeable and interesting than the WC...

Hi, This is my first post. I am driving to the Jerez circuit tommorrow (i live in Malaga) to watch the the testing. Does anyone know which stands are open and can you see into pit lane? I will post any info i gather here tommorrow night. cheers John
JT HAS ridden at Jerez before. Nonetheless, it's great to see him really making headway. I'm a little worried about Melandri though... And I believe Pedrosa and Hayden are still on the 07' bike.

A lot of people mocked me last week about my comments on how rubbish West is and his Dad will beat me up,lol. Well westy is doing brilliantly, only 2 SECONDS!!!! a lap slower than Hopkins. West is class isnt he you bunch of Australian thieves, lol Well done Toseland,if he was 2 seconds a lap slower than his team mate all you Aussies would come out of prison to start abusing him, lol. Rossi quick on bridgestones after only a couple of hours, he's fairly good that Rossi!!!

Hey John Olly. I live in Malaga also. Can't make tomorrow but might try for Thursday. I don't know about the stands but you should be able to see from the hills around the track as these are privately owned (I think). Look forward to your posts tomorrow.
Best sport in the world this eh?
