Pedrosa puts 2008 Honda on top.

Pedrosa puts 2008 Honda on top.

On a day when world champion Casey Stoner was injured, Pedrosa used a soft compound Michelin to set a 1min 39.993secs - half a second off his own pole position time from the Spanish Grand Prix in March - on his final lap of the day.

Suggestion for crash.net,

If possible, post two time sheets. Fastest laps overall (including qualifying tires) and another one for fastest race tire laps. Top time sheets are very interesting for race qualification and off-season fanboy-fanatics, but if you want to seriously look at the times I'd like the race-rubber sheets too.

Nice attitude you ****.
It would be nice to see the tyre choices but if you can't be bothered please feel free to hurl abuse and do nothing.

You're a credit to the website.

Sasha has a point tough.. Comparing times I conclude that Casey best laptime of 140.2 with race tyres, is still incredible fast and the time to beat. (Hats of for Casey)

So... let me get this straight. Yesterday Valentino was keen to remind people that he was third on the timesheets, despite the fact that he had an injured hand. He was sure to note that he was only 90% fit. Now today after being third to last on the time sheets he is quick to say that it was his hand that didn't allow him to post a time even close to all of his teammates. And btw, what happened to the investigation on what happened to his M1 at Valencia? There's been no report on what was actually wrong with his bike. NO MORE EXCUSES VALE!!! Lets face it Rossi knows how to win, but he forgot how to lose gracefully... This could be an ugly 08' for the Doctor

I guess after riding with a broken hand three days on the trot, it is going to start to become sore, no?

Better let that hand heal, he needs it for slicing up the turkey this Christmas

Btw Will, the Valencia crash was a 'software glitch' of the Magbeti Marelli traction control,
they upgraded to a newer version to prevent it from happening.

I think Rossi did a fine job here, he has found the direction to go with Bridgestone, I'm curious to see what they will
do on the 2008 bike in the next test in januari.
It would have been nice to see what he could do on a qualifier today and also if Casey was still there,
Hayden may look nice in second spot but rest assured it will be between Stoner, Pedrosa and Rossi in 2008,
the Honda looks to turn into a pretty mean machine...

Man, poor Rossi can't get a break. Sooooo many people wanna see him fall. When Rossi went to Yamaha to prove to the world that he could win on a "slower" bike, I'm sure that he knew that all the bikes in the series would continue to get better and faster. I'm sure he was hoping when this eventual evolution came that the M1 would evolve with the rest of the bikes and unfortunately, it hasn't but Rossi still manages to be up towards the front EVERY year on it and it's like he gets no credit for it. 2006 he WON more races than anyone only to have the title slip due to a unexpected crash in the last race. He had tire/engine problems the whole year and STILL finished 2nd. ---continued---.

This year, he's still been towards the front on much slower bike now compared to the other bikes. Yet, people tend to look over this. I can't understand why. He gets caught on straights, has tire problems and has other engine troubles and all of a sudden he's over the hill? The guy went to Jerez and made his debut on tires he's never used and did a splendid job and people STILL continue to rag him. Can someone tell me why? His bike is one of the slowest and he's one out 2 riders to win a world title this decade on a Yamaha and people say his done. I've said it b4 and I'll say it again, Give him a COMPETITIVE package and he'll win again. Heck, he's almost doing it on the current package.

Another thing, everyone's talking about Pedrosa and Stoner being the future because they are "Younger", well Rossi is 28 years old and has been giving them ALL the stress they want. On a slower bike too mind you. Rossi is the greatest and all the bashing that people do here everyday WILL NOT change this fact! So, type till your fingers fall off haters because, it won't change a thing!

He's right you know.

Laterus. I don't know why it is either (but I expect we will find out soon, watch this space). In my opinion, with a combination of sublime riding and personality, he has virtually single handedly brought MotoGP kicking and screaming into the specticle it is now.

He is not finished. This, I feel is wishful thinking from some. I believe Rossi will fight for the championship next year and if he does win, even the most anti Rossisti will surely have to acknowledge that he is one of, if not the, greatest.

Yes jh, spectacle is right. Or perhaps circus?
Maybe some of us want a racing championship where the odds aren't stacked in favour of the 'chosen one' just to benefit Dorna's Italian and Spanish television rights income?
Hats off to Stoner that, against all the odds, he upset the party massively.

Hat's off to "Ducati" you mean Iggy. How is it Dorna's fault that Rossi is a superb rider? That was a desperate attempt to rag Rossi and Dorna for that matter. Pityful........... Casey is a good rider indeed but, his riding skills don't shine over his bike's excellence like Rossi skills do on the M1. ANOTHER fact that proves Rossi is the greatest! How many other Yamaha riders do you see in the top 5 EVERY year outside of Rossi? Some people will never learn.

Iggy. Call it what you like. The fact is we are still watching it and are all facinated by it, regardless of which rider/team we prefer. I doubt this forum could have existed ten years ago when some GP races had fewer ticket buyers than a local club meet.
