MotoGP stars Valentino Rossi and Dani Pedrosa have each given their version of events after a bizarre clash during Friday's second free practice session at Qatar, which left Pedrosa tumbling through the gravel.
The incident was a carbon copy of Laguna last season when Curtis Roberts was bimbling along on the racing line causing Marco (i think) to slam into the back of him. Incredible that Rossi should behave in such a way. But maybe it is sign of things to come from the fallen idol.

Helen did you actually watch it? Rossi wasn't "bimbling"... Pedrosa was just faster at that moment... perhaps Rossi's shadow caused Dani to panic? Whatever... Dani is a bit stressed these days me thinks... Go Nicki!

From the video it doesn't look like Rossi slowed down at all, Pedrobot just miscalculated Rossi's speed or fixated on his ***.
Pedrosa has kind of made a name for himself making these kind of mistakes.

Well, this is incontrovertible evidence of the superior grip of Bridgestone tires! You can get rammed from behind and stay upright, while with Michelin tires you end up in the gravel
Watching the video again, you can see that Rossi is tucked in coming out of the corner. He certainly wasn't cruising.

The probable reason for the incident are the flood lights, there is a huge difference between daylight and artifical light at the speed these riders are travelling it only takes a split second to occur, in fact some riders may have night blindness that they don't know about as yet which will multiply when the bikes are close to-gether or in a pack, distance is very hard to judge so is speed and braking as it is hard to find a reference points

Rossi's glory days are over. He is now relegated to the level of the back markers. Fast riders must approach him with care because he can't be treated like "Rossi" of his golden era.

It appears that Rossi was cruising as he tried to get the feeling of some new settings. He had done the previous lap at the same pace with the same corner speed. Rossi also said after the last tests that he found it hard under the lights to judge just how fast he was coming up on other riders. Dani has been against riding at night from the beginning, from the first time it was mentioned last year. Kind of like Melendri was so convinced that Laguna Seca was dangerous that he went out on day one two years ago and high-sided out of the Corkscrew. Some people are even saying that Rossi brake-checked on purpose. Rossi did 1´56.5 the lap before and was a half second faster through that section...
one thing is for sure Pedrosa was a lot quicker than Rossi out of that corner..Looks to me like Pedrosa wasn't looking where he was going..

...but on the lap of the incident he lapped in 1´59.5. Next lap after the incident he lapped in 1´57.1 and was .8 faster in the final section. In the section just before the incident Rossi was only .2 of a second slower than on his previous lap when he was doing 56.5...so it looks like he rolled through the corner as usual but just did not accelerate. Old war story: I remember coming out of the Bomb Hole at Snetterton many years ago behind Dave Cartright when he blew a plug out of his Commando and I ran right into the back of him because I expected him to be gone. Don´t know what Rossi didn´t gas it, but Danny´s story makes sense from data and from logic. We´d need to see the data recording
Brake checked on purpose sounds like total paranoia, assuming he knew it was Pedrosa it would be way to dangerous for both parties, besides it looks as if there is gonna be plenty of competition. Rossis explaination sounds more plausable, that he didn't shut off but was not travelling at lap record pace, if you're testing this often happens when trying new ideas. His lap of 159.5 is slow but not much slower than Guinters and when you consider the bump probably not that slow at all. They'll be plenty of people in the race not as fast he's just got to overtake them. Could be the lights, still not convinced the actual race will be safe could wreck the whole season....

Why would you run into someone coming out of the corner? Without seeing his data I reckon he probably just rolled it off slighly. You wouldnt brake check someone going out of the corner I would bet my house on him NOT winning the title this year. Other riders have given him far too much respect on the track for far too long. Bayliss was someone with the "**** you" attitude needed to beat him. Stoner has it too. Rossi gets rattled when someone sticks it back on him. I think he has screwed up big time by running different tyres to the rest of the Yamahas and it will ruin his chances. Rossi- the end of an era ?

pedrosa has a reputation of running over another racer from behind, he really has a problem with braking control
rossi's glory days might be over, but how can we judge it by only 2 free practice sessions.
seems like the only one without problem with bridgstone is Stoner, still early days
These things happen buahaha!LETS BLAME IT ON CASEY??????

Rossi rolling off is probably just a sign that he was trying to work out when to drive out of that corner with the set up he was running. He seems to be in the wilderness not able to get his head round the fact that he should be stamping his authority over all and sundry. The frightning part is how his career IS mirroring that Biaggi guy. The wins aren't guaranteed and he is still giving it 100% as always to be left wondering why he's not put the living daylights up the competition. Didn't that Max guy do a similar trick in 2005 Assen with Marco?
