Toseland talks after 'surreal' debut.

Toseland talks after 'surreal' debut.

Four riders made their MotoGP debut at Qatar on Sunday and for James Toseland it was also his first ever grand prix of any kind - but the Briton wasted no time with polite introductions as he traded paint right from the opening lap.

Great job. No pressure to perform for JT as he's new. Same goes for Colin, no bridesmaid to Rossi anymore. These guys will just have a lot of fun this season, especially if they keep it up like they did this race. The new engine will make things only better.

Colorscheme makes them LOOK like a third degree privateers though. But that only ads to the coolness of running with the leaders!

I really think that if James had had the new engine he might have sneaked a podium. He just couldn't keep up down that straight, and you know that's not rider skill.

I agree Norbury Newlywed. Rossi's **** was saved from a 6th place by the fact JT didn't have the straighline speed to take him on the drag to the line. He was so much quicker through the corners and didn't fade towards the end of the race either! Great first ride.

Brilliant effort from JT, well done lad ! He'll be dangerous when he gets the new engine. I'm particluarly impressed with his attitude and how focused he is. If Valentino chucks his toys out again this year and leaves Yamaha, would they be tempted to put JT on the factory bike...?

Was awesome for JT, its great having a home rider in there, I don't think I've ever got so vocal watching a GP Cant wait for Jerez, having done plenty of laps around there he should be competitive again

I have said it before. If Rossi does not win the 2008 WC he will be sacked by Yamaha. That being the case and if James reproduces that Qatar form at all future races he will be invited into the Yamaha factory team, come the end of season. Then we can look forward to podiums and maybe some wins.

You said it before but it is ridicilous, repeating it makes it worse
you talk about the only Yamaha rider that actually led yesterdays race ;)

"I have said it before"

You have said many things before jacko and nobody takes it seriously as you know nothing about MotoGP... so say it again, and again... now go and do your homework mate

I reckon Jimmy T is being politically polite. His Yam was being creamed down the straight, however it was fantastic to watch him claw back the gap over the course of the lap. The only down side was that bloody long straight whereby they could open a lead on him again. Well done James.

The classic British excuse of all time, "I was faster every else but they just got me down the straights", doesn't anyone there have something original, boring!

At least Toseland is a lot more mature than this and doesn't make excuses. I didn't think that much of him but the meticulous approach to the pre-season has opened my eyes. Once he gets the new bike and presuming it's not completely different engine wise a very strong season awaits.

That of course is also completely dependant on what happens with the tyres from now on. Anyway, he is really adding something to the class which I didn't expect.

Hopefully Yam will be good to their word and not delay dishing out the pneumatic to JT and CE whatever politics erupt with the factory team members.

Since the jails got too full!

Seriously Mick, JT was inspirational whatever his country of origin. Aussies have had it pretty good in MotoGP for a long time so why resent a bit of British success? After all, your boy still won.

Zero resentment here, thought I was pretty clear there. A couple extra horsepower and a bit more experience and the he's nearer the pointer end than most. Don't think he can win a race but podiums are a real possibility.

The comment was basically good to see a British rider who doesn't sprout out that brainless cliché and just gets on with the job at hand.

I do prefer British spelling so it's Gaol to me. ;)

Brilliant job JT!
At last we have a brilliant GB racer in MotoGP again an on a competitive bike (almost) as well. It's was a awesome race to watch, so much more fun than last year. I hope the 'rookies' keeps the show coming.

Yep I'm an Aussie too and I love that the Poms have a rider that looks the goods.

Give the man the new engine so we can see how good he really is, I say.

There looks like a few likely types in the 125's as well, it looks like the Boys and Girls from the Ole Dart will have something to crow about in the next few years.

don't be put off by any crap we ever throw their way, it's just our way of saying we like you.

Go JT be the good thing we hope you are.
