The true reason ofcourse lies in their diet, you have to eat kangaroo steaks and emu eggs to make the Ducati work. Melandri grew up on spaghetti, Guintoli on froglegs, Elias on paella, that kind of food simply doesn't get you there.
Wow.... what a anti Ducati, anti Stoner article,..!! You asked the question??? The answer was Casey Stoner!! You're suppost to be equal to all, Crashnet!! Then you say if the answer is Casey?..quote.[not believable]!!, I really can not believe this is unbias reporting!! Mike Nicks..Nick off!!!!
..well..there is obviously a certain amount of rider suiting the bike/tyres/team going on in Stoners case, but any talk of the bike being built for Stoner should have been put to bed last year, as Stoner picked up Capirossis bike/tyres ..and we know what happened then..! It is early in the season, but I suspect by seasons end, even Stoners most vocal opponents may have to admit his real talent and speed.

Obviously it s Stoner ... but i do believe the other ducati riders are not getting the same bike (and tht s perfectly understyandable). In fact, even Ducati accept that the satellite bikes cannot beat the factory ones. When Barros beat Casey in Mugello last year, Domenicalli quickly caled Luis d'Antín to tell him that was not happeniong again. The Alice bikes do not get the same software or suspensions. Engine wise, though i think they re all equal
I appreciate your humor Morgue..funny... But I am LIVID @ this anti Stoner article by Crash.net!!! Disrespecting the 2007 WC, & the winner of the first race of 2008!!!
The answer will be in Loris Capirossi's performance on the Suzuki. If he soundly trounces Chris Vermeulen, then the Ducati is average and Stoner a genius. If the #7 Suzuki thrashes the #65 Suzuki then the Ducati is the real deal, and Marco and Elias are pretenders.
Or you could stick Troy Bayliss on the thing for a couple of races.... that would solve it quick smart

Stoner is obviously a great talent, but the gap between him and the others riders is far too big. Same thing happened with Capirossi last year. Something else must be a factor.
What are Ducati doing that works so well for Stoner, but not for aybody else???
Well they could do a topic asking themselves why they are unable to accept that Casey Stoner is the difference on the Ducati.Be some great personal growth then and maybe even some objective type entries here.

I wouldn't expect the Satelite teams to keep up with the factory bikes. But even if the bike is more suited to Stoner this year Melandri should still be well inside the top 10 on that bike. As it was he was unable to keep up with Stoner as with Caparossi last year. It's early days for Melandri but he didn't have much pace in testing either.
Question is, how many team mates does Stoner need to beat (very convincingly) before it becomes obvious who is making the difference? He rode that Ducati on the ragged edge in qualifying, he can muscle that Ducati (which isn't as nimble as other bikes on the grid) around the whole track, sure top speed helps but that's not what wins races for Stoner.
I think the real question is, is what is Stoner doing in the turns and in breaking that Marco is because Marco is faster than Stoner on the straight. A friend saw Stoner ride at laguna seca last year and noticed that even though Stoners bike was sliding around all over the place while Stoner was leaned over (HARD TO SEE ON TV), he kept the throttle pinned. His assessment was that Stoner had full trust in the TIRES and more importantly the Traction Control. Nicky for example was SLIDE master on the 990cc. Honda turned down the traction Control system for him and he went faster (last year). I think Stoner with his 250 and dirt background knows how to be Smooth and slide at the same time

Pretty disappointing article from Crash actually. It's more like flame bait... If you are going to ask such questions your article needs to have much more substance to try and answer that question.
The only way Melandri will be able to ride the Ducati is to forget everything he knows about other bikes, flip TC to high, get on the bike and and follow the leader of the pack.

I'm new here so can someone tell me the answer the mob came up with when Rossi was so far out in front of the other Yamaha's.

Have people forgotten 2006? Sure he crashed, a lot (i believe he was just learning his limits), but he was still pretty damn fast on that non-factory Honda.
The answer is simple "true love" get yourself a good looking young wife, therefore the quicker the race is over the quicker you are back with your sweetie, Casey's Ducati is the only one that runs on testosterone

@squeeze.
With Rossi it was all talent. With Stoner it's all the bike.
Double standards or what, huh?
(note, I don't believe this, I think both riders are exceptional talents)
Nobody denies that Stoner is a great talent. You can't deny that Ducati are having a problem when only one guy can rider their bike, bad news for the factory, for the sponsors and for the careers of the other Ducati riders. What they would really want is a Ducati 1,2,3,4 (a bit like the topspeed charts), that is the best advertising for their brand.
The genius is all on Stoner's side. His and Melandri's bikes are the same there's nothing to be difficult to see here.
This whole story shows how much the series has changed. Riders who were fast and usual frontrunners now find themselves at the back of the field without any other apparent reason other than the totally different nature of the 800s. So credit should also be given to all those who managed to remain competitive after the 800s era, like Rossi and Pedrosa.
