PICTURES: Stoner's close shave.

Stoner had earlier run-off at the end of the back straight after missing his braking point on lap 3 of 27, dropping him to the tail of the field at a track where his Ducati had already been struggling.

Fortunately Casey got a few points and can regroup with only an 11 pt deficit at this beginning stage of the championship.Really enjoy seeing him ride like he does and looking forward to more riding displays through the season. His racing reminds me a little of Rainey and Lawson and at 22 he's got years ahead of him.So focussed on the racing and the bottom line is he's there to win, nothing else.As for all the negativety, predjiduce and stereotyping on these forums..its spoiling what could be a descent site to have a chat about MotoGP.I will be looking elsewhere.

Burbs 85: Maybe my eyes are not working properly, but I haven't seen Casey fall of the last race or the last season, in fact I have seen almost everybody fall off except for Casey...

Stoner was what is termed in Speedway as "Fenced" by Nakano, just lucky there was no fence there.

Give a 22 year old world champion some credits for fighting like he did. everyone knows Jerez isn't the 800cc Ducati's favorite track.
Furthermore, you can count on one hand the number of riders who would have continue like Casey did after he ran in the litter for the second time. Many other riders would have leave their bike there and back to the 5 stars hotel.
I'm disappointed Casey did finish 11th but this is going to be a tremendous growing experience for him and the Ducati team.

End of the day it's a simple racing incident, certainly not Shinya's fault in my view and he doesn't deserve the badmouthing he's getting from Stoner. In qualifying he kicked his foot out at Loris even though Loris wasn't even on the racing line. The lad needs to mature enough to accept when he makes mistakes and stop blaming other riders/tracks/weather/anything else that get's him off the hook.

I agree with Choppersan - and I really dont think he could have handled being fairing bashed by Toseland - he wouldnt have got 5th. Racing is racing and you cant expect other riders to pull out of your way to let you through. He is used riding from the front and not passing on corners - a bit like Dani. No doubt he is an excellent rider and a fantastic champ last year - but unless he puts his hot head away and races with maturity, he will find himself in the same situation as this weekend!

Stoner is such a drama queen when things doesn't go his way. This is why he will be a one hit wonder. He just can't keep his cool. I'm predicting lots of crashes this year. Where are all his supporters from last year?

His behaviour was really out of order all weekend.

3 major mishaps this weekend.

Kicking out at loris for "being on his line"

Getting of track 1st time and coming back on track weaving whilst trafic was still coming past creating a dangerous sitution for the people coming past.

Trying to overtake Nakanao and de Angelis in 1 move just on power, rather then trying to make a move in the corner, then going to hot nearly clipping Nakano and then telling it was Nakano's fault.

FIM should give him a fine of some sorts, as this is just no sportsmanlike behaviours.
And can be potentially dangerous for other riders if the keeps this up.

well last corner moments are allways off the rule book :P or a bit,
Then again capi went through the inside so toseland had little room left, but it was nasty how Dovi got left hanging.

Oh how I laughed when Rossi passed Stoner and how I laughed even harder when Stoner went off track, again! and again! Now it's not because I dislike him, or Ducati, or all things Australian. No,it was just the thought of Mr Obnoxious himself, Marty Cowan sat all by himself, weeping as his little pretend friend decided to go off-piste. Too funny Marty, poke a sharp stick, now put your arrogant Emu head back in the sand... ;)

Does anyone know if Casey got fined for kicking out? I know he got away with it last time, but I seem to remember Hopper getting fined last year for kicking out - fair's fair!

casey has just had one bad weekend both he and ducati will bounce back and show why they are the reigning champions for the tiny factory that they are they should be admired in what they can do and to take on the huge japanese factorys and win is amazing and a bad day at the office is nothing to they are and have acheived.
casey had one bad race and everyone is writing him off what he is doing is amazing and i have one thing to say which is marco melandri he has lost the plot totally and no one is mouthing him off.
