West, who only joined Team Green in June - as a replacement for the underperforming Olivier Jacque - has signed a one year deal after impressing the factory with his consistent results. The Australian has notched up 33 points in just five rounds, with three of those finishes being in the top ten and, as he grows more used to the ZX-RR over time, Kawasaki are optimistic they will see him shine ever brighter on track.
I'm so happy for this kid, he's really a talented and versatile rider, he's been consistently fast on the kawi. his story is motivating!

Awesome news. After a long career of busting his butt he has finally arrived. He has the talent now lets see what he can do with it. Podiums are definitely a strong possibility.

Maybe the poms can learn something from Westy. Persistence pays. No use complaining. Just get out and ride the wheels off the bloody thing. Now for him to get on the pace and continue his battles with Chris V, that started when they were both on Moriwaki 80's. Go the Aussies!!

Looking forward to some all-Australian podiums in 2008!

It amazes me it has taken Westy so long to get a decent ride. I am sure one of the reasons he has a Kawasaki ride for 2008 he hasn't dropped the model since being drafted into the Green Team (mechanics do like that so do the bosses)and has hasened slowly. Now he has a decent team, a decent bike all he needs is a decent hairdresser for the trifecta, corprate image is a big thing when standing on the top step of the podium, which will happen in the not too distant future. Its been worth the wait for the Westy fans,,,,,,,,sit back and enjoy. Great to see Kawasaki improving. Ant West will not let them down as he has had a hard road to this level. The top teams are not silly and have noticed that if you put an Aussie on it you will likely.........WIN

Westy is a good rider, talented and could probably win some races next season, Chris V also, Casey..no doubt...Michael Doohan is one of the world best racer....but...but please do not be so aussies in this forum, there are millions of people in this world, hundreds of natioanlities and when we are talking about motoGP, it's very rare to see people saying, for example..go japanese..or french..or go americans..or go british or go italian...or even go brazilian...or even go zimbabuean (if there will be a zimbabuean riding motoGP perhaps in the future)....see what I mean?
those too aussies comments are somehow making me sick...(sorry)

Point taken Gus Gus. As an Australian I just find it unusual & interesting that there are so many riders from here at the top level. Not sure why that is. At the end of the day I don't care who wins, and I have to admit all the British hype about Lewis Hamilton being the next Brit to do this and do that has made me a bit sick of F1 coverage. So yes, good luck to all MotoGP riders, citizens of Earth that they are.

As an answer to gus gus,we are only a very small nation {number wise}and to see 3 "Aussies"in the very elite of motorbike racing just makes "US "proud and want to shout team green and Westy

Yes I agree with you Gus, but you have to also agree with foo as all we hear about it Lewis in F1 being a POM. Goes both ways
