Lorenzo takes triple pole glory!

Lorenzo takes triple pole glory!

The 21-year-old rookie had never ridden his Fiat Yamaha at the Portuguese Grand Prix circuit before Friday's practice session, but that didn't prevent the reigning 250cc world champion from holding a near half-second advantage heading into the final minutes of Saturday's qualifying hour.

Fantastic ride again, three poles in a row as a rookie! Wow.

Rossi is getting to grips with the Bridgestones too. Even better, he is smiling again.

Overall the Yamaha's seem to be very strong, four of them among the first six bikes. Impressive! Very well done by Toseland too, to Q in 6th with no knowledge of the circuit.

Riding a Ducati seems to be a mixed blessing this year. Poor Melandri, i hope he gets a handle on the Duc soon. Somehow i don't like to see the ducs at the back of the field.

Well done to Yamaha and michelin. They made big promises during the offseason, and it looks like they've delivered the goods. Will get a better indicator where everyone stands when they get to the tracks that favor Bridgestone.
we'll get a better

the boy sure can qualify, but i still think vale will take the race win. the bigger worry is more with stoner and those ducatis. surely casey can't be a serious contender for the championship this year, the bike isn't in the same league at the moment ?

for me it's pedrosa v rossi.................?

Last year was obviously a tire advantage. The tires are everything. Now that michelin is up to par the Hondas/Yamahas are better bikes. But what I have also noticed is that Rossi is the only bridgestone rider up with the michelin guys. where are all of these guys that was talking all the trash about Stoner was superior b/c he got to set his own bike up and so forth. the talk was so biased. a fool that didn't know anything about motogp could see bridgestone had an advantage. heck, even the motogp top guys saw it. I guess Rossi isn't as done as the haters wanted him to be. All in all what i am saying if a man works hard for something or has a talent for something give him the proper credit.

Ducati need to figure out why the only person who can ride it fast is Casey Stoner (if he wasn't riding it Ducati would be seen as one of the worst bikes on the grid) when he is winning I guess they have no real reason to do that, if he stops doing so well hopefully they'll make it more rideable for the others.

It's still far too early to write anybody off, especially Casey Stoner.

Things do indeed look grim for Ducati at the moment, though. But it's not like anybody who is on Bridgestones - excepting the amazing Dr. - is doing any better.

It'll be interesting to see how Bridgestone responds to the resurgent Michelin brand.

Aren't you glad Dorna didn't go to a spec tire? I am.

Nice ride, I think Lorenzo is a real threat to the Champ this year. He is consistent, he knows that, he'll go for the title.

Maybe it's the year with most talents in Motogp!?
- Vale, Pedrosa, Stoner, Lorenzo, Toesland.
I don't count on the others.

Come on bintintan

Dovisioso's not doing too shabbily given the equipment he has.
Edwards is doing his usual erratic routine with periods of mediocrity interrupted by flashes of near-genius - expect to see him on the podium sooner rather than later.
Hopper's been injured & won't have a fighting change 'til his groin strain's recovered, while Capirossi's been struggling with fundamental design flaws in this years Suzuki.
Hayden's put in some pretty sound time's too.

You can't 'not count' that level of talent.

26 or 27 Word Championships on the grid this year !

Pedrosa will take the lead at the first corner.Lorenzo on his heels.Soon both in the gravel.Rossi wins, a Tech 3 second and Nicky third.

If it's a wet race : Rossi, Dovizioso, Toseland. No trace of George and Danibot

All the Stoner fans must be gutted, they have been saying all week that this weekend will be a different story.

Well where is he then???

The fact is now that everyone is on machinery & the tyres are better in the Michelin camp there is no major advantage any more.

i did say last year, it's easy for any rider to ride a bike that was simply too good & no other team had the equipment to challenge Ducati/Stoner/Bridgestone last year.

I don't know what Mr Rossi would be doing if he was still on a Michelin shod yamaha. Yamaha have learnt well so have Honda, but that Yamaha now looks to have it all, top that with 4 decent riders & it's a formidable outfit.

Go!! Rossi Go!!

Ducti... what has happened? Stoner's bike was all over the place today. Perhaps sitting in the garage for ages and doing 5 laps then coming in for a long sit down isn't gonna work anymore? If it's not sorted by the next race, Stoner's team really need to start worrying.

Lorenzo has been extremely impressive. To me though, am most impressed with JT. First practice he was way down the order (having never raced here before). He just gets faster and faster with each session until here we are, 6th again.... Go JT!
