Indeed, the Fiat Yamaha star's third position, behind team-mate Jorge Lorenzo and Honda's Dani Pedrosa, marked the first time that any Bridgestone rider has qualified on the front row this year.
tomorrow james toseland is behind rossi ..so most probably race willl be over in the 1st corner . he will be the new toni alias like missile to hit rossis back tomorrow.
poor guy !!!
hope it doesnt happen

Rossi to win tomorow and ash mummys calling you to wash behind your ears silly child
It helps if you've watched racing long enough to know what you're talking about. J.T.'s race craft is as good as any out there. ;)

for all those who said about brilliant(not so!)stoner and pushed rossi is done etc...... the season has begun and from here onwards it's gonna be thaaaaaaaaaaa rossi show and will be proven that's he's the best out there and he's not done at all. it's about the rider not just the machine neither tyres nor being 50kg mini me. ;)

although Casey Stoner qualified ninth I certainly wouldn't write him off!
Rossi has won on this circuit in the past so it would be interesting to see how well he does on Brigestone tyres.

Rossi is definetly looking strong for the race. He laped consistently through all practice and has a strong race pace. Just like Dani and Jorge. The other 2 Yamahas will also be strong. If they'll be able to lap consistently and stick with the front 3 of Dani, Jorge and Vale they could spring a surprise. I think that unless Casey and Ducati can find something overnight, they are not in contention for the win, or for the podium for that matter. I just hope that they all get through the first turn alright and that we have a great race.

It looks like VR has a good change tommorow, personaly I prefer a Yamaha win instead of a Honda..
I don't know all this Rossi this and that...........All I want is a good race and may the winner be victorious! Am I bad or should I pick a side.....?
P.S If I had to I would pick experience over youth but I remember not to long ago when you where 30'ish before you won a world championship...... I think that was a learnt skill over electronics. But hey who knows?
does anyone no the weather forcast in portugal for tomorrow???????????????? rossi all the way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I have a good feeling for 2moro.
You only have to look at the body language of Rossi now & it's a complete reverse of last year, he's back to his normal happy go lucky self & is enjoying racing again but importantly racing & knowing he has a chance because the machinery is capable of doing the business, he will do the rest!
Good luck to Rossi I have him down for his first win of many this year.
Lorenzo, Pedrosa need congratulating too good stuff from all of them.
Colin, Nicky, James should be all in the hunt for the 4th 5th & 6th spot's as i just don't think they will be able to keep up with the class act's of the top 3 guys.

Lorenzo is Yamaha's new number 1.

Lorenzo is using Rossi's set up on the tracks he rides on from last years Michelin tyres, this is public knowledge.
As incredible as Lorenzo is, can he also ride on a bike with ZERO set-up data on every track this year? When he can, and he can produce the same results as Rossi will - then Lorenzo is equal to Yamaha's number 1 - Valentino Rossi.
Only Rossi is mad enough, and good enough to do something as bonkers as change tyre company with a bike that has no data on it - and still perform in the top 3.
Hayden, Pedro, Lorenzo, Stoner - they all have team mates to share data with.
Rossi is flying solo - because he has the talent and guts to take RISKS.

yeah Grumpy..thats why we ordinary mortals appreciate his Passion for what he does and that he does it for the Sport and not for himself as a priority. thats why he has exposed the sport to many people that dont necessarily knew about it and thats something that makes him great and strong.
you are right grumpy doctor..the other yamaha rides are benefitting because of all the information collected by rossi over the years...
i think there is another reason why rossi would want to use the BS tires..till the year that dani was not in the motogp class michelin was backing rossi totally..when dani came along he was honda's golded boy and honda put everything behind him and must have pressurized michelin to do the same..we all know how pissed honda is at rossi and how much they favour dani..
in 06 and 07 rossi suffered the most because of tires so maybe he decided that enough was enough and it was better to go to BS where his input would be appreciated.....contd

..and he would nt have to play second fiddle to michelin.this way he is totaly free from the clutches of honda..i feel his story of geting BS just coz Stoner won with them is just part of the whole truth..he needed a tire manufacturer that would listen to what he had to say and then produce the goods for him..BS too needed someone like him...i would not be surprised if next year even Jorge will be using the BS's and later on even the tech3 team..
we all know rossi was pushing BS to come up with a good qualifier and they have responded and rossi is on the top row of course it is also due to the bike and the rider but there has been an improvement
just a theory so dont jump all over me!!

The shock of the weekend has been the relative trouble in which Casey Stoner finds himself. It hasn't got any better. But perhaps Casey's biggest problem is the performance of Rossi on the same make of tires. Getting on the front row today was one of Rossi's minor miracles, if he wins tomorrow the victory would have to rank as one of his greatest triuph

i didnt say toseland is a bad rider . he has been the best this season better than lorenzo. but he has done a lot of crappy over taking moves in all races till now[ touching lorenzo quit hard in qatar+2 contacts in last race].. so his braking point is not so good at the moment. but thats ok as this is his 1st yr.
BUT LAST 2 TRACKS HE HAD RACED BEFORE,, BUT THIS TRACK IS NEW FOR HIm ....SO HE HAS A GOOD CHANCE TO GET IT WRONGE IN THE 1ST CORNER AND mIGHT HIT SOmE ONE IN FRONT[ UNFORTUNATELY ITS ROSSI AHEAD] !!!!!
