Having qualified on pole for a perfect third time in a row, Lorenzo lined up on the front of the Estoril grid with sporadic rain drops falling - adding further drama to the proceedings - before fellow front row starters Pedrosa and Rossi stormed ahead of him into turn one.
Good ride jorge! But I don't he can go for the championship! It seems like the traction control worked very good today!

HAHahahaha.......looks like marty's dosen't have the b***s to use his real name now !!!
....yeah a bike and tyres that he developed over the past 3 - 4 years.....
just look carefully and see how bad your wonder boy look on the same BS tyres pretty crap right !!!
yeah rossi did fock up on the tyre selection for this particular race !!! so there i agree with you

I think he just reserve his place as one of 4 podium fighters at China. Now Michelin is as good as B'stone last year, his title chances is wide open in front of him.
B'stone may not becoming better until Honda sort their bikes advantages, Lorenzo is running free to chart his new territories.

"One lap more and dani pedrosa win!"
Erm, but there wasn't one more lap was there? So what's your point...
The straws people cling onto around here is pathetic. If this, if that, but what if this, what if that. We've only had 4 useless cant draw comparisons yet. Waa waa waa cry me a river. It is what it is.
Great ride by Lorenzo.

what was rossi thinking when he decide to USE A MEDIUM REAR TYRE !!!!
THEY SAY HE THOUGHT THE TRACK MIGHT BE SLIPPERY AFTER NIGHTS RAIN,... BUT IT WAS PERFECT FOR RACE ON HARD REAR ..JUST AS HE DID IN PRACTICE SESSION
ON HARD TYRE ROSSI WAS DOING 1:37:4 EVEN IN FP3... HE COULD HAVE WON THIS BY A COUNTRY MILE....
HIS FASTEST ON MEDIUM IS 1:38:0 --- WHAT A BAD TYRE CHOICE !! HE IS LUCKY AS HAYDEN AND DOVI CRASHED ... THEY WERE MUCH FASTER... BUT STILL IT GOOD RESULT AS STONER IS BEHIND+....NOW THE NEXT 6 TRACKS ARE BRIDGESTONE TRACKS.... NOW THE ROSSI AND STONER SHOW WILL START!!

What was he thinking?
Well, just cos michelin riders used a hard tyre doesnt mean bridgestone need to use the same, ok he cud have probably used a hard, but what would his pace have been?
at the end of the day, it wasnt a good race for bridgestone....anyone who says stoner had a problem with his bike...is wrong, cos at the end of the race he had the same pace as rossi...its all in stoner's head, he lets himself get too wound up.
As for the next 6 tracks being bridgestone...china was pretty even last year, stoner won due to power, le mans vermulen won due to rain and didnt rossi win in mugello on michelin's last year?
It may be they crashed *because* they were going faster than they could sustain.
Tyre choice has to be a bit of a gamble in conditions like Estoril's today. You may be right Rossi made - with hindsight - the wrong call. If so that he brought it in third's testimony to his ability.
Takes nothing away from Lorenzo's achievement tho.
rather than say rossi made the wrong choice of tyres this season, you could say that he's sent a warning shot to the others by getting 2 podiums on bridgestones bogey tracks, what happens when we go to their favoured tracks

Exactly, bridgestone were good at catalunya last season, rossi always goes well at mugello, its gonna be a very close exciting season.
Part of me thinks get on pedrosa to be champion, he does look very consistent, but then so does lorenzo.
It's a lot harder to call this year than it was last season.
Ok, i'll admit being a rossi fan, i really wanted him to bring it home today, its been a long time, but it'll happen soon.
It's gonna be tight hopefully, its nice going into a sunday not knowing who is gonna win.
Had it rained harder, Rossi's soft front and medium rear would have been the correct choice ... a pity ...

Yes, agreed. When there were light spots of rain on the track Rossi was quickest. I think if it hadn't have dried up completely he would have been able to hold on to the lead.

Actually the next track is also a Ducati track with the 2 straights. So we'll see.
You can forget last years "B'stone" tracks. The only reason why B'stone won was because of the last minute anti-Michelin ruling going into the 800 season. Michelin is back and the cards are re-mixed. Untill now the B'stones were suffering, so I wouldn't bet on "last year".
Dani could have won this IF he would have been alone in front. But as usual, if he has to race in a group he's like a flightless bird, and I everyone on the grid knows this now. During practise, in mixed conditions, he was not even top 10.
The pass Lorenzo made on Rossi was difficult and clean. Great stuff!!!

so does this mean Stoner was just a one hit wonder like Hayden? And were are all the Stoner supporters from last year?

talk about stoner just being nervous is absolute **** ducati HAVE got serious problems that bike was slide-grip-slide-grip-kick everywhere looks as though they are pushing the rev ceiling/power band up and the traction control cant quite work it out. I said last season that stoner can't be that good and guess what.. he's not, sure he can ride well and will get a couple of wins this year but he has not got the pedigree of some of the other riders. Stoner will be top ducati this year but 5th or 6th in the title race tops. I think the title is Dani's to lose this year with lorenzo 3-4th rossi 2nd. maybe bridgestone are developing tyres for rossi not stoner this year????
where is ace27? :

The ducati is a poor handling bike relying on its power and electronics. It is an unnatural beast. Ducati need to be realistic; their bike is seriously difficult. If they don't improve the feeling without TC and electronics they might just forget 2008.
Stoner is not a fluke, but Ducati or B'stone have lost something since last year( they were slower in Estoril) and the others have simply catched up; no more easy advantages. Stoner, Ducati and B'stone were really lucky last year; A surprise package.
Also the new kids on the block on the, from last year, developed bikes are not making it easier. Lorenzo would not have been this impressive on the 07 Yamaha/Mich package believe me.

Rossi is riding on tyres developed for Stoner, Layton. He hasnt got any specific to him yet. Stoner looked nervous and is becoming a victim of his own mindgames (another Gibernau???) Lorenzo rode an excellent race and won fair and square, but even had Rossi won by the same margin, I would still have to say that the last 1/3 of the race was an all too familar procession. Excellent racing up to there tho Bring on China!!!

Personally i see no reason why lorenzo couldnt be champion this season.
The yam is clearly a great bike to be on, better than the honda, its gonna be down to consistency and as much as pedrosa is good at it, so is lorenzo.
If anything rossi is the dark horse, he hasnt been champion in 2 seasons, and being on new tyre's he's the underdog.
Rossi is usually strong at Le mans, Mugello, Catalunya and Assen...if he can win them, there's no reason why he cant win the season either.
Rossi, Lorenzo and Pedrosa must be the 3 favourties, they all look consistent and strong.
One thing im not gonna say being a Rossi fan, is...what if he had been on michelin..he's on bridgestones, he'll do his best.
