The road to Stoner's 100th.

The road to Stoner's 100th.

After two wild-card rides in the 125cc class in 2001, 16-year old Stoner became a full-time GP rider in 2002 in the 250GP class - since when he has set numerous records and milestones:

Like him or not, but he is without a question a very talented rider, you Australians have every reason to be very proud of him.

Did he win a title in the premier class. Who said no one can't win a MotoGP title while Rossi still in it. Pedi must have been pissed off when he still ain't got any...

I can't believe, so young already going to make 100th GP start.

He had a huge advantage last year, bridgestone were all over michelin, and unbelieveable top speed. But he was still the only Ducati rider to dominate, so the guy obviously has talent. But he does moan a lot, if he toned that down I'm sure he would be much more popular. I hope he does get the Duke sorted, looking forward to a four-way battle right to the end of the championship

the boy's done a good job and hope he continues doing the same...

grano you cannot blame him for last year...or for that matter Rossi or Dani...Duc gave him a good bike and BS good tyres and Honda / Yam gave them **** bikes and Michelin gave **** tyres....

but all said and done no matter if you have the best bike and best tyres if you cannot ride the gooddam thing round the track having the best of everything is of no use....he is a good rider because he made the max use of what he was given....

his riding is good he just has to be more tactful in front of the media..any problems that he has with the team and the bike should be sorted out behind closed doors..

I never said he wasn't a good rider, in fact this year proves it, Melandri is a class act and even he can't get the thing to go round corners. I don't think anyone disputes the fact he is a great rider. But last year Ducati and Bridgestone caught everyone off guard, so it made him look better than he actually was. So he is under pressure this year, how he responds to it will prove how good he really is..

grano...yes i know u never said that he wasn't a good rider..you are right Duc and BS caught everyone off guard and that is why we have endless posts with guys for Stoner and guys against Stoner...if we just judge by Motogp titles won then he is one up as compared to Dani and Lorenzo...

this year will be the test year for him but if he folds then again we will have posts from Stoner groupies saying that the bike was bad ( which very well seems to be the case as of now as regards to the bike ) and not him....but then the Rossi groupies will say ahh in 04 he had a bad yam and he still won so he is more talented than Stoner..

anyway the wars between the groupies will never end...

Here is something scary for the Ducati and Honda folks. Autosport reported this, "Valentino Rossi looks set to have to wait until after the Spanish Grand Prix next month to get his hands on major upgrades to his Yamaha bike. The Japanese manufacturer team had originally planned to introduce some engine improvements around the time of this weekend's French Grand Prix, but Rossi's victory in China appears to have convinced Yamaha to continue with their current specification for now". There is more but you all get the gist. The last thing Stoner wants to hear is the Yamaha M1 shod Bridgestone is set to get engine improvements.Must be wondering how will he compete against ROSSI with things even.

Was the Ducati and Bridgestone really that much better? Cap is an extremely talented rider. The machine is very fast in a straight line that sounds like an animal to handle.

Of course the Duc and stones were not that much better Anyone not sitting on a yellow kool aid enima can see that!!!
Just look at reality and the race results (07 statistics) for the Ducati riders and Bridgestone runners in 2007....
Only one Duc and one set of stone runners was so dominent at the end of the day, no advantage otherwise there would of been three Dukes 1,2,3 in the championship
The truth is out there

Grano - how he responds - he won the last couple of races - sorted out the TC (which is the same as VR's anyway). Casey lived out of a caravan and ate baked beans from a tin for those first few years – his bikes were budgeted in the same way.

Even if he doesn't win the championship in 2008 he will again in the future AND he has been nothing but loyal to his team and tyres. He didn't fade like NH or KR Jnr after the flash in the pan championships they got.

I'm still waiting for the call-up for his PR team – "Hey Andy, sick of being a sh*&^y Guvmint Lawyer" – "Why yes I am". Then your job is to teach him how to praise other riders and not be such a grouch. Ahhh Europe here I come.
