The move, which will see Spies ride a third Rizla Suzuki GSV-R alongside regulars Chris Vermeulen and Loris Capirossi, has been long rumoured and marks the first step towards the American's planned graduation to grand prix racing in 2009.
I've made this comment here before, and it caused a great debate! I believe this kid's gonna be the next american champ, and is probably the most naturally gifted rider in the world right now, behind possibly Valentino Rossi, and Jorge Lorenzo, and with no disrespect to stoner, pedrosa, hayden and Dovizioso. this kid's gonna make em all stop in their tracks..

I would love to see Spies in MotoGP - the sooner the better. A shame he couldn't have gone to MotoGP earlier because this year in AMA is just a wasted year. I agree he is a great talent and will surprise a few people. Also, the success of this years rookies will make teams look at other rookies for next year - hopefully Spies and Bautista.

Been watching him for awhile, he's a hard worker, and knows how to think through a race. Problem is that I still see him as a big fish in a small pond. I mean, the Yam's are running just off the pace of the suzuki's 4 YEARS AGO. Taking nothing away from Mladin, (10 years younger body with his current ability and he'd be in the top 7 motogp)Ben's only competition, he's no VR DP JL CS etc.. If he (Ben) comes to Motogp, Dorna will have their poster boy, Hayden will be sent to the satellite pasture to wither and grow old, the new American face might get a top 5 in Laguna every other year.
What a distorted view you have.Mladin or Spies can run top 3 if they are used to machine and track like the rest of the field.Hayden will be Stoner's teammate in 09 and better than Melandri on the Ducati. So there you go,no need to hope any longer.

Robert Dunlop has died after suffering severe chest injuries in a crash in Thursday's practice session at the North West 200.
Another Northern Ireland rider, Darren Burns, suffered a suspected broken leg and concussion in the accident, but is said to be stable in hospital.
The accident happened in the 250cc qualifying session, near Portrush in County Antrim.

Don't know what his ability can be based on, he's currently riding familiar tracks on vastly superior(to competitors) machinery...His only competition has been Mat Mladin who let's face it knows which side his bread is buttered on..I think Mladin had a motogp test at PI(home track) and was top 6 or something at the height of his powers. Looking forward to seeing him ride but a world beater? calm down a bit.....

Don't follow AMA, don't know anything about Mladin (except that he keeps winning) but I recall that Barry Sheene didn't rate him good enough for GP's.
