Craig, I took the line "in no other sport in the world" to mean motorcycle racing, rather than just motogp? Totally agree with you about Crutchlow. Brave ride! Bayliss also stands out as riding through the pain in wsbk.
I remembered Cal fell in BSB and he still fought like a Spartan-army, but people don't 'see' it very much, Jorge's situation is more like the same but it seems what he got is far more worse than Cal, which is I don't think so... Go Cal...
While it is very admirable having a apartan outlook in a race, all great strategists also keep the moto" live to fight another day"...the foolishness of his youth shows he has a lot more to lose if he crashes than gain if he doesnt. wish him luck..ofcourse now im forced to root for him coz he's the underdog ...****
the problem with the GP8 is that like all new things it takes its own perfect riding style to win races and just at the moment Casey is the only one to be able to tame the beast and even he is having problems. It's like any new piece of equipment the rest of the riders aren't used to the bike so naturally they're taking benchmarks from Honda,(Melandri, Elias) and Yamaha (Guintoli). At the end of the day its as simple as just biting the bullet and riding the bike the way it needs to be ridden, full traction control and no fear.
Intersting thoughts on rider changes. Humm, after reading the Ducati section I have to say, Maybe Hayden should (long over due) try the GP8? Sounds like it would fit his kind of riding style...

I agree that NH's time with Repsol is up and Alex will replace him in 2009. Nicky would do well to try the GP8 i think it will suite his dirt track style much better. I predict that Melandri, Sylvan, and West are going to loose their seats. I think Elias needs to go as well. Chris V needs to exit Suzuki and go to a more competitive team. The GSVR is an uncompetitive machine.
Next year the grid my only be 15 or 12 riders with the lack of talent.

An early discussion regarding the silly season. But it makes sense that all the Ducati less Stoner will possibly need to look for new rides. Obviously Hayden needs to be put out to pasture or ride for Kawasaki (same thing). If Yamaha can continue improving the bike I'm sure Rossi will stay for at least one more season. Honda will obviously keep Pedrosa and will likely look to Dovi as the other rider unless they can convince Rossi to come back but I doubt this would happen. In terms of Suzuki and Kawi at this point it doesn't matter who they have unless it's Rossi to turn things around which I'd bet against happening.
