Pedrosa bad on the brakes.

Pedrosa bad on the brakes.

The Repsol Honda star began the event on pole position and holding the world championship lead, but was overtaken by Casey Stoner into turn one and couldn't get around the Ducati rider.

Pedrosa has never been strong on the brakes since joining the motogp grid, which does restrict his ability a little in a fight for position. However, when he is out by himself he is blindingly fast, as Rossi mentioned over the china and le mans weekends. It doesn't make him a worse rider than the other top guys, much like each of them he just displays different traits and brings something different to the table. If everyone was the same it would be dull...

Before the race Rossi said his strategy would be getting to the front fast and stay close to Pedrosa as he expected him to pull away. Dani was clearly not able to run his practise pace yesterday (lucky for Valentino).
Anyway, the top 3 are real close with 3 points between them so nothings lost.

Pedrosa from the begin was "everywhere" on braking instead of a clear braking line, he almost lost the front a few times. Probably a bad tyre choise, it's a pity.

Anyway confirmed againg his position as No 1. Honda rider and that is good

I'm a Rossi and Toseland fan,but this year im begining to dig Pedrosa. His riding style on the bike is great to watch and his personality is begining to peep through.I actually saw him chatting and smiling to Stoner and Rossi over the last couple of weeks.
He's maturing into a class act.
When Rossi does retire in a few years time,Moto gp will be safe with men like Pedrosa,Stoner and Lorenzo.I hope Haslem,Camier,Rea and Sykes will be there too.

it seems strange that Dani's tyres were good in qualifying but hopeless in the race,
the yamaha tyres worked perfect why.In fact it seems that the only good working tyres
were on yamahas both on michelin and bridgestone

Agree with one of the posts above, Pedrosa has always struggled to brake late compared to the rest of the top boys. I believe this is down to physical strength, or lack of it, which in turn affects his trust in his own ability and bike. He cannot depend on always having those wonder days when he gets out in front and demolishes everyone. Unless he can sort this problem he will NEVER consistently be a threat so long as Rossi and co are getting wins and podiums. If I were Honda, I'd get him on a regimented high carb diet and strict weight training routine to build him up.

its his style, he is quite smooth and in being smooth u are on the brakes earlier but no so hard. no sliding etc, which for a lap is faster and better for bike and tyres.

BUT when in a battle u need to be late and then square of the corner. its something he needs to work on, tho i dont think it has anything to do with his physical size, which anything should help him. thp perhaps be a bit more stocky thats all. small and stocky, is perfect.

he is still young.

Can't help but wonder why so many posters have bagged those exact words when Casey Stoner used them. The cries of "Moaner" and other childish name calling by a bunch of retards has been long and loud on the Stoner story where he had EXACTLY the same issue with tyres that Pedrosa had. Pedrosa has a tyre problem - it's a reasonable explanation. Stoner has a tyre problem and he's a loser, a moaner, etc etc etc. Just because he "dared" beat Rossi last year. Mental midgets most of the posters I have to say.

Belly - That may have been said in another thread, can you go fight it out there as currently this thread has avoided the b1tching that goes on else where. No one here has said that it was ok for Dani to say it but not Stoner. If he did have tyre issues then that is something he and his team should work on as im sure Dani and Honda will do. He also broke down so his tyre choice wasn't so relevent in the end.

Dani uses his small size to his advantage quite well, sitting the bike up and firing out of the corners so bulking up will make him heavier and may effect how well he is able to do that. At his size i bet hes pretty streamlined as well!

I don't think braking will ever be his strong point, but he makes it up elsewhere. That was what I enjoyed about China, watching 2 great riders with completely different styles, but both blindingly quick. Rossi is back, but Dani is still the most consistent. Going to be a great fight this year..

"All weekend we've been missing something"

Exactly which weekend is Nicky talking about? Could have been nearly everyone since March 2007! Shame he's a nice guy but embarrassing to watch a Repsol Honda rider performing at that level.

Honda has been missing something every since the 800 era started. They have always been known for having an advantage somewhere, but they are not overly strong anywhere. One of the slowest bikes on the grid which means their riders have to ride like hell to make up time they are losing due to speed deficit. I think Pedrosa's size and skill masks a lot of this, but as we saw yesterday, when the rest of the gang were running their best he couldn't keep up. It doesn't make since for the rest of the satellite riders to be riding 07 bikes. If they were all riding the same bike, it might help in development. Plus the 07 bike is fugly. Anywho. As a Honda fan, I must say I'm a bit disappointed.

Pedrosa is not very strong at braking, as seen in numerous GPs.
Was it in China that the acceleration of his Honda powered him several times alongside Rossi in the straight but he was outbraked (not sure of that word...) each and everytime ? He has a 20 kilos advantage on most of his competitors, which he uses very well, and which should be an advantage under braking too. He is becoming better and better in this sector though, and on the wet too, and Rossi will find it more and more difficult to tame the diminutive Spaniard...

Hank you are absolutely right, Honda are missing something and we all know what it is VALENTINO ROSSI, we know, apparently Honda haven't grasped this yet, does anyone want to let Honda know?
