Valentino Rossi's last day on track before the start of his home Italian Grand Prix saw the Fiat Yamaha star circulate with just three other riders during the final day of testing at Le Mans - two of whom, Ducati Marlboro team-mates Casey Stoner and Marco Melandri, then left at lunchtime.
seeing rossi lowering the lap time by another 0.333 on race tyres must have really rattled CS and even the guys who are not in testing....if he keeps bonding better and better with the BS then the rest of the season may be a repeat of what CS did last year....

Very true ss
Except Rossi doesn't, and never will have a 17 km/h advantage over the Ducati - like Stoner did over the Yamaha.
Remember Stoner sailing past Rossi's M1 and even Dani Pedrosa?, it was a total farce for Moto GP - More like F1, 2007 was.
Even in 2008, the Ducati still has better drive out of the corners. Stoner was blasting away from Rossi in terms of torque at least, just not in the bends.
The M1 seems to be the best cornering bike out there, with Dani + Casey having the top speed stakes in hand - still.

I know thety complain that Pedrosa's got the 'old engine' but that bloody thing had some serious poke out of the corners onto the main straight, better than the Yammy.

grumpy doctor sorry when i was referring to last year's season i meant that he would be up front in each race and wining about 10 races this year...
yeah the yam will never have the 17 km/h advantage like the Duc had....also agree that the Duc still has better drive out of the corners during the Lemans race in the early laps when dani, rossi and stoner were together and they were showing the overheads shots you could see the duc blasting out of the corners...
hope the new parts can make the yam faster but still keep its sweet handling

And another 0.333 faster on race tyres....damn, Rossi is going faster and faster.
Next Mugello...where Rossi is king of the track.
I'm confidend that Rossi will add another victory.

I dont understand why Marco would go home early. You would think he would want to ride from dawn till dusk until he got the hang of riding the bloody thing and stopped being an embarrassment to himself and his team. Same goes for the Alce sisters and Ant West.

Marco had to stop Matt, when Ducati found out what broke on Stoner's engine they immediately stopped testing in case it happened again.
Remember Mich-tyr er better Br-tyr this year, so i think if "Rossi" not change from mich-tyr to brg-tyr he could be faster then any one else, look at Jorge L how fast with mch-tyr

shariff....agreed but rossi is doing very well with the BS at Michelin tracks....just want to wait and see what he does with the BS at BS tracks !!!!
it would be great watching him fly away in the distance but it would also be boring because then motogp would become like f1 or the 07 season!!!

@SS
Could you please name few tracks where BS tyres enjoy advantage over Michelin?

shariff, I agree. I think had Rossi not switched to Bridgestone he probably would have won most of the races so far this season, assuming that had he stayed on Mich that they would have still made the leap forward this year that they had made (maybe their motivation for improvement was that he left, had he stayed they might still suck this year??? who knows). I hope you understand the point I'm trying to make, I have worded it very piss-poorly.

Well of course Michelin would come back this year stronger, I mean they are not used to losing. I think we all knew it would happen & hat's off to them they have made a bloody good job.
However Bridgestone with Rossi at the helm will only get stronger, how long do you guys think it will be before Bridgestone have a qualifying tyre to take on Michelin?
They are not far off & we all know that Rossi developed the Michelin front qualifyer.
He is now developing the same with Bridgestone & he want's to prove all the doubters wrong, just like he did with Honda, most people said Rossi could not win the championship because he switched to bridgestone, Cont..
I have just checked the odd's with all the bookmakers & everyone has Valentino fav to win the title, infact it's not even worth a bet the bookies are not stupid & have clearly seen the writing on the wall.
Jeremy Burgess said in a recent interview that they have got the bike sorted now with race tyres which we are clearly seeing, Rossi has also said he can now ride the bike exactly how he wants to which is fantastic news.
I am a Rossi fan, but I wouldn't get too excited about him going faster in testing because riders normally or at least often go faster in the post race testing.
Heaven forbid when HRC and Ducati get their bikes sorted, let alone Horhay returning to 100% health..... "Calm Beofre the Storm" aint that the truth....
CS will be lucky if he gets another win this year.
Rossi will most definately get another win this year.
Lorenzo will be up there as well, if he doesnt keep spitting himself off the track. Theres only so often you can ride through injuries.

Reality check 102
Bookmakers cover the outcome of an event Nigel. The bookmakers odds are low on Rossi as there is alot of money on him and they increase the odds on other riders to cover any outcome. Bookies DONT CARE who wins as long as it's covered. Ie Floyd Mayweather to win against Ricky Hatton in a UK bookmakers had great odds due to "Ricky mania" sweeping the land and in U.s.A Mayweather was the dead cert and not worth placing a bet. And that was only a 2 horse race. Watch the odds tumble again if after the next race Jorge, Casey or Danni do a performance like Rossi this week and school the other 3.

Bets sometimes can get very weird indeed. I would like to know if there was any man on this planet that placed a bet on Toni Elias for the 2006 Estoril race. The odds should have been somewhere in the 1/150-1/300 area. Imagine: A 10 Euro bet would yield about 1500-3000 Euros profit. These are the bets to be looking for...
