GP9 to meet Melandri's massive change?

While team-mate Casey Stoner was locked in a thrilling battle for second with Valentino Rossi throughout the closing stages of Sunday's Catalan Grand Prix, Marco Melandri was almost one minute behind - fighting to defend eleventh.

Catch 22 innit?

If they turn Marco loose on the GP9 to do the development work chances are it ain't gonna suit Casey Stoner who obviously has a hugely different riding style.
Against that, tho going down that path means doing two sets of development work, the reality is they'll probably have to do that anyway unless they plan to ditch Marco - which they'd probably on balance prefer not to do.

Well, Ducati has always show they don't care about riders that don't perform: look at Bayliss was thrown out of the 990, or Sete, or Checa...I guess if Marco doesn't do better, Marco and Ducati will just split. Soon.

decisions about West and Melandri shows that factories are looking also at themselves and it's good point of view. Marco isn't crap guy also West. The bikes are technologically just inflexible. Neither Rossi nor Dovi want to go to Ducati couse who wants to fight with bike?? it's about fighting with competitors, isn't it?

TBH I think they *have* to sort the bike this time.
Ditching Loris they could explain away as 'He didn't gel with the bike'.
But now Marco & Toni Elias too?
If it ain't fixed their repuation becomes 'Ducatis are unrideable'.
Plus as 't' points out - Which rider with half a clue what they're doing will go to Ducati if they don't sort it?
