Spies: I want more!

Ben Spies produced a fantastic performance during his MotoGP qualifying debut, at a wet Donington Park on Saturday, to claim eighth on the grid for the British Grand Prix.

I don't know how many of you racing fans have seen Spies race,so let me tell you this much. The man has no fear and has the talent to move through the pack.Ben Spies' most exciting move is his ability to come back on someone, who manages to pass him. The man is relentless so Ben [elbows]Spies should give his fans in the U.S.a good showing for himself.

It looks like Spies is doing better than most expected, especially in the rain.

The kid is fast and smart. Don't expect him to go for more than what the bike and track will give him on Sunday.

I'm guessing he mainly wants to shine in the US rounds. I hope he gets a GP ride next year. It would be fun to see him on a regular basis.

Great to see him do well in his first outing. In the US he definitely has the best bike but so does his teammate and right now he has the upper hand on him. Besides his skill I think his tenacity is his strongest asset. The battel between him and his teammate is very close and there were times I think many would have been broken instead he put his head down and pulled out wins where it seemed hopeless.

Guys, do you remember how most of us in Europe discovered Kevin Schwantz, back in 1986 I think ?
He was riding an old works Suzuki entered in the Suzuki GB factory team, on a soaked track in the UK...

Well, Spies amazing debut reminds me of young Kevin's...

As a sceptic I'm well impressed. If I was him I'd have stayed in my hotel room 'til it stopped raining

Spies can thank Mat Mladin for his mental toughness. The guy is relentless. Remind me. Where's Hodgson ?

i wish him the best of luck, unlike in the AMA where he can crash then the red flag goes out then restarts the race here in MotoGP they don't extend that privilege even to a multiple time world champion.

Spies is very mature and disciplined, as a rider and a person. He will strive for consistency and small incremental gains, then his tenacity and aggressive side will emerge. I am sure his first goal is to stay healthy and get a 3rd AMA championship and not get distracted by the MotoGP circus. Spies trains relentlessly and once he gets used to the bike, he will be a serious contender. As for red flags Morey, he's had races where he's put a few seconds on Mladin and had to go back to the grid and fight for a race he'd already had in the bag, I can't remember one going his way. The motoGP prima donnas and party boys better look out because this kid does whatever it takes to win.

Spies is tough. Battling with Mladin will have taught him that. He's also able to develop a bike to his liking, which will be a boon. Add to that his maturity, and I think he will do well, if he can get a ride in motoGP next year. Failing that, I'd almost be willing to bet a SBK title could be his for the taking...almost.

Spies is an AMA SBK rider....quality ? Great for USA level but forget him to ride in EUROPE, he will have to learn 4 years before coming at a reasonable level.
All SBK riders out in AMERICA, in the past LAGUNA SECA races, won in front of the AMA SBK riders !!!!
It will be for SUZUKI GP, lost money and time ...if they invest on him

I WANT MORE ...MONEY that's what SPIES think !
But he has not the level to enter the MOTO GP, you'll have to take 250 guys to get up on this machine otherwise Suzuki Team will loose their time.

Not bad for Spies since he bring it home with a championship points. He did lost his position in every lap. Still, his laptime was consistent during the race. On wet practice he did surprised a lots of peoples with his brave ride.

I would say he is similar to Vermuelen on his first motogp ride. If he can't learn fast to setting up motogp bike or ride a bad setup with brilliant result, he better stay in AMA for another year.

Btw, he had another chance to show whats left in him at Assen...
