250: Kallio wins - Simoncelli, Bautista tangle.

Mika Kallio has snatched an unexpected British 250GP victory over Marco Simoncelli and Alvaro Bautista after the race leaders ran wide with one lap to go.

Kallio, better slider than Garry mcCoy.

Well he has been training:

I think Simoncelli is ruining 250 - again and again he makes stupid and dangerous moves, but he gets away with it. I can't wait to see him in the big class. They will give him right back if he tries that shyte there.

Yep race of the day from Kallio imo. Well done Apparently this was the first race with a new chassis...Gulp!

Simoncelli very apologetic in the post race interview...maybe too many people are getting on his case?

@brit: the problem is that simoncelli needs to apologize a lot lately. yeah, nice that he does, but it would be better for all if he rode in a way that he wouldn't need to in the first place...
and you would think that a warning by the safety commission would make him reflect his riding style a bit more.

stv21 did he get a warning?

And I don't think that apology was so deep. He didn't seem to apologetic in the podium park, and at the interview he said he was sorry for the incident and sorry he didn't win. He should just stick with sorry for the incident.

spacelord: yep, he did get a verbal warning after the incident with barbera. and the safety commission spoke about how manoeuvers like that are not allowed anymore, that you can't just change your line on the straight to not let another rider pass you.
read here: www.autosport.com/news/report.php/id/68071

btw: i completely agree with you.

ah so people have been getting on his case. Good, I am glad to hear it because i did feel ( ^ up til now) something should have happened after his jink down the straight into barbera.

What happened to Barbera was out of order, but its not tiddlywinks, had that move today been last lap/last corner it would have been firm but fair(ish) however i agree, riders should not be allowed to ride without thought for others, but the fact that the lap record was broken, on worn tyres, consecutively on the last-what, four-five laps? shows just how hard these guys where trying, motorcycle road racing is life, every thing else etc etc. . . .

Running wide when you miss a breaking point by a meter or two is hardly a criminal offense and doesn't need any type of action taken, the simple fact is it screwed both riders chances of a win, nothing more nor less.
Add to that that Alvaro had done much the same earlier in the race, he didn't really have too much to complain about (yes I too would have liked to see them wheel to wheel at the line, but this is racing and people make mistakes when getting on the limit)

@ Al - the thing about Bautista doing a similar move earlier is that he has enough skill not to wreck the race of the other rider whilst doing it. When mixing it with other riders he is not reckless or impossibly optimistic in his moves like Simoncelli. His move may have been 'similar' but it was certainly not the same.
Simoncelli is "crazy" as maheadebear says - problem is that "crazy" when you clearly aren't skilled enough to execute your ambitious moves is often either incredibly stupid or downright dangerous. Yesterday it was just incredibly stupid more than anything else.
The only faintly amusing thing is that had Bautista won then Simoncelli would lead the championship now, not Kallio.

Simoncelli made Doctor's ! Difference is that there was from 14. grid started Kallio behind and took what he deserved after difficult weekend with KTM.
