MotoGP world champion Casey Stoner has slammed some elements of the British Grand Prix crowd after being booed on the podium and 'abused' during the slow down lap.
Well done Casey, were not all mindless morons in this country. Does'nt matter who you support that was a disgrace !

Just ignore them Casey, you don't need to do anything, just keep that throttle pineed and keep on winning inront of their golden boy Toseland. The brits are always the same whether its football, tennis, F1 etc etc they wont win and cant win.
Pathetic

Gee, it's not that hard to understand. No British premier class champions in 20 years and their only runner falls off at the first corner, poor bugger. AND they lost the Ashes.

Casey is spot on. A large percentage (it is not a tiny minority) of British fans are so hateful of any rider that has the nerve to beat their hero Valentino Rossi. What is it with these / you guys. This booing of other riders only occurs in the UK. Shameful. Worse than football fans.

Totally agree with the above comment... if the fans were interested in racing, they would congratulate any winner... I appreciate that everyone has a favourite rider: or at least bias towards one, but the almost venemous attitudes towards Stoner / Rossi / Pedrosa / Lorenzo (depending on your allegiance) is p*ss poor... this pantomime bull**** makes my blood boil...

Not that simple - the person the fans cheered for most on Sunday was an Italian.
Rossi got more support than Toseland.
The Brits love Rossi and any rider up against him is going to suffer this sort of thing.
It's not on but what can you do?

wow! im no stoner fan but he won fair and square and should not be treated like that. im a rossi fan but not one of those idiotic ones and toseland was unlucky but he was probly trying too hard. at the end of the race i also did not like the fact all the fans went on the track.

Every country has its partisan supporters, but this is stupid yet almost unsurprising. This year's British GP certainly got more coverage than previous season's, so the crowd probably had a greater percentage of people there for the spectacle rather than the enthusiasm for the sport itself. If the only rider they know is Toseland and Rossi, it doesn't surprise me that Stoner got a frosty reception from some.
Doesn't excuse it though - it's another poor portrait of this country.

Firstly, it's wrong to lump all British fans or all Donington attendees together, or even a "majority" or "large percentage."
I agree that this kind of reception isn't good. It was a dominant, very fair, very well deserved victory.
But I think there's a reason for the negativity Stoner received. He's a bad loser. He's a whiner. He blames everyone except himself.
By no means is this a valid reason for what happened, but he's not liked by many for very valid reasons.

Stoner is a whinging pr7ck.. He's winning but has maintain his loser mentality. You cannot force people to like you..
Does he think nobody else has ever been booed cause Rossi has had more than anyone but you think he uses it as an excuse not to turn up at a charity event.. You will always get morons who will boo, the trick is to win them over....he hasn't go it I'm afraid end of....

It's certainly not an anti-Australian thing - Troy Bayliss gets treated like a god here.
Stoner doesn't have to win any popularity contests BUT perhaps he needs to look at how Jorge Lorenzo turned his public image around. Lorenzo worked hard to win the fans over and get the same level of support as arch-rival Pedrosa. Its been a success.
There's no excuse for booing Stoner though. Just perhaps he needs to realise there's more to racing than riding a bike.

Crash.net, Your headline "Stoner slams British fans" does not help this issue!!, It sounds like Stoner was simply answering questions about what happened. Your provocative headline will only fuel the fire!!
74Forever - What a pathetic ignorant individual you are. As an aussie you make me sick. So the brits cannot win.
Knocked us out of 2 rugby world cups. Reaching 2 finals and winning 1. Won the Ashes a few years ago.....
Athletics:-
Daley thomson, Seb Coe, Steve cram damn only remember the 80's Motorsport :- Damon Hill, Nigel Mansell, Carl fogarty, Neil Hodgson, James Toseland. All recent world champions. You should learn to read or at least watch a bit of sport.

All true Britons now live in Wales, have a look at The British GP Speedway Final held at the Millennium Stadium Cardiff, true Britons cheered every rider in every race, the final was won by Bomber Harris the only decent rider that Britain has.The crowd at Donnington are riff raff just looking for a fight because they are full of grog, and can't see straight for that reason. The Creme rises to the top Wales.

Valentino Rossi statement: "Being a fan of somebody is to supporting him not to deride the others. Personnaly, if you are my fan couse you hate others I don't want you to be my fan"
that's true. Rossi earned his popularity and support for all these years winning and living in England.

No not good...if you don't like the guy, fair enough..
but the abuse isn't needed, these guys are out risking their lives doing something they love yes, but at the same time, entertaining us..
each one of the 18 riders is a hero, because we all know none of us could go out there and do what they do...
respect needs to be given...if you wanna bash or hate someone, on the slow down lap and the podium is not the place for it..
i don't think max biaggi was even hated this much, lol
Stoner's job isn't to babysit pathetic British crowds. If you want an example of a posturing, whinging, up-himself personality you need look no further than Lewis Hamilton, and look how wonderful he's considered to be in the UK.

Foo - Most hate him in the uk. I have several english mates and they cannot stand him, basically for the reasons you describe.
