Valentino Rossi fought a focused battle in Sunday's British Grand Prix, as the Italian - unable to threaten runaway winner Casey Stoner - instead concentrated all his efforts on defeating nearest title rival Dani Pedrosa.
managed to take 2nd place and his 7th podium on the bounce.. extend his championship lead..
Consistency will win the championship this year and rossi looks bang on to be on the podium at every race..
it's a good thing the ducati is sorted with stoner, but i just hope it doesn't turn in to a procession at every race, even when rossi was winning by 5-10 seconds, it wasn't brilliant to watch...but you can't knock a guy for going out and blitzing the competition..
roll on assen and roll on rossi for the championship!
Logically, you can' t win every race (almost impossible!) So, being the second is better result for Rossi on leading championship instead losing more points to his rivals!...
Anyway good battle with Pedrosa and magic overtakes from Rossi!

Agree with Both Comments !!
Must comment that I thought AD and JL were both very impressive yesterday - their time is coming !!
I think Rossi learned a lesson from 2 years ago related to consistency and seems to be riding perfect to win the championship this year. It's not over though, Pedrosa is too close and Stoner can easily catch up. Assen should be good though, I expect a huge battle there. Hopefully Colin will go well again too!
Assen will be very important for Rossi, he normaly dominates there so if Stoner can win there he is in trouble... Remember the best Stoner circuits has still to come, only sachsenring, motegi and valencia are more Pedrosa like...
processional racing sure can be boring if evenly spaced and same laptimes lap after lap but i tend to have a few (too many! ) favourites and somewhere down the field there is normally an interesting scrap going on for me. Problem is that TV generally sticks to the top group however boring it may be in comparison with the fireworks going on downfield.
I laughed with joy at the way Rossi played with Jockey Boy. Hopefully anyone who ever doubted that Rossi is still in a league of his own caught this race.

Well done Vale!!! Stoner the moaner sodded off but conviently had new electronical adjustments to do that................. Cant believe he wonders why people at Donington held signs with ****** on it and people booed him. Maybe its because he always moans about Vale and other riders and his own team!Plus he is an arrogant little git. I thought he was OK but now I dont. And he questioned why Vale is so popular because he doesnt get it!? Well Moaner its because Vale is one of the greatest riders we will ever see and he is a legend and he respects his fans. In fact he respects every fan of Moto GP and the riders in it including Moaner himself! Vale win win at Assen for sure!

Yes Valentino is surely doing a good job, he's not stupid & realises that there is competition that can & will give him a race, infact the top 3 are all now very consistent & results are going to swing 1 way then another, but Rossi has a good lead over Stoner & a fair lead over pedrosa.
Assen will not allow Stoner to dominate, i mean at Donnington you could clearly see that stoner was visibly quicker than anyone else & yes when he came by us I kept saying Stoners bike seems to be very quick & he seemed to be able to brake fairly late too, infact out of all the riders it looked to me as if rossi was one of the slowest up the hill, it looked as if pedrosa was going to take him every time.
Also at one point in qualifying Marco was on track, Stoner went by him and was doing the normal for him moving his head from side to side as if to say what the **** are you doing on my track, I have seen him do this a fair few times this year & last & he is very anoying, u don't see many do it but Stoner all the time.
He needs to learn that the other riders are out there doing there thing too & just because he's the current WC he don't own the friggin track!
roadrage There was only 1 rider in a league of his own, and it was not Rossi, did he win NO he was second best on the day it may be hard to swallow, but it is a fact.

Can't deny that CS won easily, but there's that nagging doubt ..... before last year Casey was fast, but not obviously head and shoulders above others. Hadn't won a championship, and won 7 times in 77 starts since 2001. So good but not great until 2007.
And then he gets on a ducati and wins 10 out of 18. At Donnington I'm sure he could have gone faster if pushed. His team mates this year and last have been basically nowhere. It's an enigma to me. 3 seconds faster than Melandri in warm up! WTF????
Either we have someone who just needed the chance to show he was special, or there is a particular trait of the Ducati that suits him like no other.

White Shirt I believe it's the latter. And Nigel you are so right about that little A-hole. He's one guy I'd like to see pummeled. I hope he has a lousy race just so that we can see him have a tantrum. Without electronics he'd be nowhere but the gravel trap.

Marc, Yes that's true, we have seen just how not so good Casey is without this traction control, he has admited that the new electronics they recently tested has made a big difference & it's certainly showing at the moment.
When I was watching his bike at donnington up the hill as soon as it was twitching it was soon corrected & he looked so much faster than anyone else going up there.
What i noticed about others apart from the M1's was that they was getting a fair wobble on up that hill, the M1's looked slow to me which is probrably why they did'nt have that pro.
What ever the Ducati use it certainly allows Casey to keep the throttle open & for longer too I noticed.
So how is Rossi's Traction Control going? He should be quite used to it by now as he was the first to use it and has been using it longer than anyone in MotoGP. Now everyone uses it just like Rossi.
