Guintoli sixth without traction control!

Guintoli sixth without traction control!

At a time when electronics are being credited by some as the sole reason for Casey Stoner's remarkable run of form, fellow Ducati rider Sylvain Guintoli put the influence of electronics into perspective by claiming sixth in Sunday's soaking wet German Grand Prix - despite turning his traction control system off!

I have to take my hat off for Sylvain, without TC to a 6th position = great class!

Perhaps this puts the effect of traction control in perspective.

yeah, remember few riders (like Robert jr) who make their opinion about advanced TC 'with turning TC off riding is better, you feel more bike and you make faster laps' so I think for some riders (especially Ducati?) with decreased TC to minimum or TC off they can ride like they want.

Yeh but Kenny Roberts Jr could probably do a similar best of his lap times if he's pushing it let alone tc/no tc lol

That's pure rider skill for you.. do this for the other riders on the grid as well and we will have an exciting series.. 1 question though: does Ducati provide them the traction control units or it's the lookout of the Alice team ? Something going on in my mind so just curious .. somebody please answer .. cheers

TC is just one part of the equation.

If you have smooth constant power delivery/engine mapping, the need and indeed benefit recieved from TC diminishes, especially for professional riders with solid throttle control.

Elias had far too much traction control I thought...if you watch the race again, listen to his ducati when Rossi lapped him.....awful stutter stutter everywhere, far too much... and Stoners is obviously the same system but 'backed off' dramatically. I was half expecting elias to have announced he had problems also, but obviously he kicked it out to maximum just to get the bike home !!?

Don't believe it for a second.....may have turned down one aspect of it, but that's all. Next ducati press release will say stoner ran the same setup....I'm the same Grizz something definately fishy about this.....

If this is true, then why don't they ban TC all together and bring an end to the debate?

After those brilliant rides in the wet conditions Ginters, Dovi, De-angles and de-puniet all on customer bikes have demonstrated why race after race i have a proplem with Hayden. he just aint good enough to keep a factory ride with the other talent that is out there kicking his a r s e each weekend... (good job ginters keep it up frenchy)

Traction control is irrelevant. Lorenzo managed a lame highside WITH traction control, and Guintoli had an uneventful and lonely race by himself WITHOUT traction control. I for one don't give a damn whether they have TC or not - it's obviously the rider that does the job.

Agreed, all this TC fuzz is brought up by Rossi fans who refuse to admit their hero is beaten fair and square.

If in some lunatic parallel universe where riders of stunningly little talent occasionally got let out on Moto GP I had been let out in last Sunday's swimathon and I'd had the choice between Traction Control & Bridgestones I'd have chosen the Bridgestones.

I'm with grumpy doctor - do a swap - it would help Ginters as he will have the resources to hand and it would take the pressure off Melandri as well

Guintoli did a great job in this race and it appears that he's been improving each race. Riding without TC shows two things one that he's a talented rider and two that TC in Ducati's case works for Stoner but not the other riders. Without TC I'm sure Stoner would have probably placed off the podium around 5th or so. I agree with many others that TC should be banned or severly reduced. I want to see rider talent determine races not a programmer. And Stoner fanboys if you are so confident in your boys talent then you should want TC to be turned off to, to show he can be as successful without it.

Marc
Your world seems to be very tiny. Has this ever crossed your mind out there are normal people too? Not only fanboys.
I'm no fanboy and I see older champ fading and new talent taking over. Happens in every sport, all the time.

Marc you're illustrating your total lack of knowledge once again.
You will never find your answer because you seek it in the wrong places.
By all means ban TC but it will change very little come race day.

You throw the word fanboy around... have you heard the word hater?

there are opinios and there are fatcs. guintoli rides one decent race and he s brilliant? please.
as fior caseyu, sure he s doing graet, but he never won a chship without tc. and this year, when ducati changed software, he struggled for the podium. he d be up there with no tc, but no way he d be winning with ease. cios if he was that superior he would ve benn world chamo in the other classes too, at least that s what i think

haaaaaaaaaahhhhh...

cant somebody please see the light that the former ducati software is preventing casey to do what he wants to do with the bike, now they have fixed it. so casey can ride it the way he wanted. much like the yamaha last year, the lack of power and the michelins is preventing valentino from challenging for the championship. Now they fixed it and vale is on the top of the standings. it is progress, pure and simple. all this complain about casey not winning without tc, well he doesnt have to, coz the rules allow it. IT IS ALLOWED... and he won not just becoz of TC, he did not crash, he picked the better lines, he braked properly, he kept his cool, and so on and so forth...
