QUOTE: "Rossi's maximum-points haul today means he closes the gap to Stoner to 76 points with five races remaining, the next of which comes at Motegi in Japan in a week's time."
There is only four races remaining. So if Stoner finishes ahead of Rossi in the next round (at Motegi), he will win the title.
Good on Rossi for scoring this win and lifting his spirits up.

Either way, it is a great scenario for Stoner. If he wins in Japan, it will be the first time that a European bike has won the premier class in lightyears and what a great place to achieve that. Even better if Aprilia and/or KTM take the smaller class victories too! If not, he can wrap it all up at his home GP. Sweet.
next race is the strongest circuit for bridgestone. so guys get ready for the another boring race ....
why dont the idiots at dorna go for single tyre rule ..when superbike and f1 has done it ..and have been succeful

I don't think it's the tyres it's the rules, the first season michelin struggle everybody wants rid of them that would be a bad choice, michelin won't stand back a let bridgestone do what they have done this year again, michelin will be back in 2008

So it's fun when he wins. Quick change from when he was losing and it was everybody else's fault. What will be his reaction after Motegi, when Bridgestone bikes are gonna win?

Considering the bike and the tyres for Vale havent been up to scratch and he has had the misfortune of coming off and not finishing due to mechanical failure, he has done really well to stay second in the championship. Any one else, ahem Hoffman, would of thrown the towel in and moaned like a baby! Vale is a racing legend and the best most of us have ever seen. He makes no excuse at all. He just says it how it is and he is gracious in defeat and will congratulate the winner. Casey will win the title but he will be another Hayden, will never win it again let alone another 6 times!

i don't think he has actually gone blaming everyone for not winning, in germany his engine overheated and misano his engine failed and at donnington his tyres fell to pieces that's not blaming people that's just what happened, not like stoner blaming his phantom clutch problems

Do you have some inside knowledge, vicripoll? Perhaps, you could let us know your source? When a GP racer gives a reason for his good/bad performance we can never know whether it is a legitimate gripe or a lame excuse. I'm not questioning any specific statement you made, but the three Rossi statements were positive and the statement about Stoner was negative. Perhaps you can give us an objective reason why we should believe the excuses of one rider over another?
rossis reasons were visible the tyres fell to pieces in donnington, the engine stopped in misano they aren't excuses they are VISIBLE fact, stoner said his clutch how can you tell if his clutch wasn't working........ what i'm saying if the engine blows that's not an excuse that's what happened it's fact,

The commentators even recognize when Stoner having the mechanical problem from his body language and bike reactions, how could you explain it is not?
Imagine that if Pedrosa's bike given to Elias in this race, it will have better fight. Rossi may still win but the fight between Rossi and Elias will be much more intense. It can be seen also when Rossi fight with Stoner, Capirossi, Biaggi, Gibernau, Melandri and Elias.
Rossi even sandbagging to let Pedrosa re-pass him again and it has no nail biting sensations along the way to the finish line. Pedrosa still shy here and there to make his moves firmly to fight Rossi back.

Personal opinion here, I think Vale let Dani back past him so he could prove to the doubters that he can still win races through his skill on the bike and not by default.
Casey never puts up a fight in a race, he just sods off because of what he is sitting on, the best bike in that pit. Vale has sodded off before but he has had some right old battles through the years and won through skill and determination.
Maybe Little Loris will do his fellow country man a favour te he he
NOTE: Loris would never do that even though Ducati are being really out of order to him considering he has been so loyal to them over the years!

It's no longer about "what tyres your bike has", it's all about "what bike are you puting with the tyres"

Well we can only accept stoners excuse can't we, unlike most of Rossi's comments when he has lost races we have normaly been able to see the evidence, either in the race or afterwards.
Once the Yamaha has been developed with this new engine & tyres sorted expect more to come from Yamaha/Michelin/rossi, also those 2 guys from honda are knocking on the door all of a sudden.
You would have thought that next race will be a victory for stoner but dont write rossi off or Pedrosa Hayden because they are all capable of giving Stoner a run for his money if the kit supplied to them works, that was in evidence in portugal.
Well said Nigel, objective and rational thinking! However, I do believe there was some kind of issue - (Pressure, Rossi, Clutch) Who knows! Better for him to blame the clutch and not give any psychological advantage away. To your point though, the rest of the season looks great if, Rossi, Hayden, and Pedrosa can keep it going.

Well Cara...This must be the one-eyed Rossi Fan Club Page. "Casey will win the title but he will be another Hayden, will never win it again"..What a ridiculous prediction!! The Ducati is not riding itself. All of the other Ducatis are not winning by miles or even dicing for the podium...Hang on...they are actually struggling to get into the top ten !! If my memory serves me correctly, and since the onset of alzheimers..it may not...but Hayden barely won a race last year. If you run Haydens Title winning stats against Stoners there will be no comparison, yet you claim he will be just like him. Take the blinkers off and give credit where credit is due.
